re: Beatles, does this mean that if you merge two releases with different recordings, the recordings are also merged automatically? like that user, i would also have been surprised to discover that
(i would have expected the old recordings to stay around and just be automatically deleted after a while if nothing references them)

it depends on the merge strategy you selected
if you select "merge mediums and recordings", it will merge the recordings as well
(sadly there isn't a merge strategy that just merges the release and leaves the recordings alone)

also speaking of recordings, i realise i forgot to add recording-of relationships for these bootlegs
i do wish the web interface would pre-populate the search field with the track title when doing that, it would make it a *lot* quicker

ivy: if you use the release-level "Edit Relationships" tab it does that for me
thanks, i guess i need to work out how to get userscripts working

if i want to add an event with multiple parts, like this: https://musicbrainz.org/event/88f6a1fd-9460-472... - do i add each part as an individual event, then add another event to contain all the parts?

Ooh userscripts, welcome to the deep end of the pool ivy :P There’s no ladder out of the pool on this end!
Cheezmo, do you want me to make a forum thread asking for help with the Beatles de-merge? I don’t particularly care about the Beatles so thought I’d check to see if you think it would be helpful. Or if you want to make one

aerozol[m]: i can tell this is going to be like when you stop actually playing a video game because you're busy modding it

haha, what an analogy :-D

Luckily you can listen to music while editing, but you can definitely add a bunch of releases in the time it takes to add one album! I wonder if I’ve added more releases than I’ve listened to in my life
ivy
wait, people actually listen to all this music?

i recently learned about "earbook" packaging and i'm very disappointed it's not a CD case made out of actual ears, that would be very metal

i noticed that releases by a certain artist have a different cover on bandcamp vs. spotify. The cover from bandcamp: seems like it's a copyright violation. should we have separate release because of differing covers? I used to upload both variants to the same release
