My copy of this release https://beta.musicbrainz.org/release/be4dae86-2... has slightly different matrix/runout and mastering codes, does that warrant adding a new release? I assume it does but I figured I should make sure

zayd: usually if everything else is identical but the matrix is different it's the same release, just note the other matrix in the annotation
zayd
ivy: I'll do that then, thanks
ivy
but if anything else is different (like the disc art) it can be a new release
"If the release has tracks listed in multiple languages, the entry with both languages included is considered to be the official release. Entries with only one of the languages on the cover should be set to pseudo-release." says https://musicbrainz.org/doc/Style/Release
Although if there's really two different tracklists rather than one with two languages, I'm not sure what I'd do...

adding a pseudo-release seems somehow weird in this situation
actually if i'm right (not sure here as i don't speak Japanese) it seems to include both a transliteration and translation of each title, which is interesting
the translation would be a case for a pseudo-release, right? i don't know anything about those, i don't think i've even seen one before
although i'm hesitant to trust ChatGPT on things like this, it does seem to agree: "“WOLF UNCHAINED” is 解き放たれたオオカミ (Tokihanatareta Ōkami), meaning “The unleashed wolf.”"
reosarevok[m]
I suspect Google Translate and the like are still a lot better than ChatGPT on the stuff it's been trained for, but the translation could be a pseudo-release indeed
Not required to add or anything though, so you don't need to bother unless you want to
ivy
the advantage of chatgpt is i can just paste the cover art and it OCRs it :-) but yes, i think i'll leave this, someone who actually knows the language can sort it out if they want to
reosarevok[m]
Ah, that makes sense, heh
Haven't played with that :)

i wonder how useful a chatgpt interface to MB would be - i've playing around with the API recently for other things, might be interesting to try that
could someone please auto-edit this if you have a spare moment? https://musicbrainz.org/edit/118938860 - put the annotation on the wrong release by accident
(the original annotation was added by me 2 minutes before this edit)
oh this release is a mess... someone has uploaded back cover art with a different tracklist
ivy: "i wonder how useful a chatgpt interface to MB would be" If musicbrainz/metabrainz goes anywhere near AI I would stop using the site immediately

All, wrt to "This came up again recently because derat has been struggling a bit with users adding a ton of releases with importers before anyone can teach them to do it better : )" (from https://community.metabrainz.org/t/notes-from-m...):
I've been adding released with Picard and am a beginner, so I wonder: have I been doing it wrong?
ivy
gmc[m]: link one of your releases and i imagine someone could review it :-)
i don't see anything obviously wrong there, the release seems to exist the matches what's on the bandcamp page... i don't imagine this is what people were referring to in that chat
i don't know how release country works for Bandcamp though, is XW more appropriate? (don't change that because i said so, i'm not sure which is preferred)
gmc[m]
Thanks, just want to be sure I'm doing things right. Just in case, I'm reading the documentation and howtos now. Maybe I should have done that earlier :)
XW? I thought I'd just use the country of the artist, but maybe that's not correct?
