Hi everyone, I’m Deepak Bhagat, a developer/student interested in contributing to metrbrainz. I'm new to the community and excited to help out!
      • elomatreb[m]
@gmc: length mismatches are somewhat common, especially with releases on different formats. Reusing the recordings is probably the right thing to do
      • kirvesAxe
gmc[m], and if the lengths of tracks in discogs are copied from the LP sleeve, they might actually be the ones that are a frew seconds off :)
      • gmc[m]
<kirvesAxe> "gmc, and if the lengths of..." <- Could be, I haven't timed them :)

Hello. In the site I noticed that there is an icon indicating that if a release-group has an associated artwork in the cover art archive project.
      • This information doesn't seem to be available in the release-group API endpoints.
      • Am I missing something or is this a deliberate decision? In case it is deliberate, is there a parameter to expose this information the release-grouop endpoints?
      • elomatreb[m]
@🍄: it's probably not intentionally omitted, just not included
      • if you want you can open a ticket on tickets.musicbrainz.org to request this feature
      • until then you can get the data from https://musicbrainz.org/doc/Cover_Art_Archive/A...
      • promptengineer[m
        elomatreb[m]: Gotcha. Thanks

Hello, I've noticed a release group on an artist's page that isn't a real release by that artist. It looks like it's either vandalism or a cover has been incorrectly attributed to the original artist instead of the cover artist (if that's even the case).

I'd ask the original editor for a source, remove it if they don't provide one
      • crism
Looks like vandalism. Cites a Spotify URL that is an actual LDR track.
      • turtleidiot[m]
<julian45[m]> "> <@turtleidiot:matrix.org..." <- I know for certain it's not a release by the official artist as I've been following her work closely for a while now and I've never heard about this from any official or secondary sources. I've tried a variety of different search terms across diferent search engines as well as youtube, spotify, apple music and tidal and I can't find any sort of cover version
      • crism: Noticed that too
      • crism
Umm… maybe not. Several other adds from that user are single-track Spotify “releases” but look legit.
      • lazybookwyrm[m]
        Yeah, noticed that too
      • Figured it might be a translation or bootleg? Idk, worth asking them though
      • * or bootleg (or both)? Idk,
      • turtleidiot[m]
Should i send them an email through musicbrainz?
      • lazybookwyrm[m]
You could comment on the edit where they added the release, MusicBrainz would notify them about that. Or you could do the email I guess. Either or
      • turtleidiot[m]
crism: yeah, a good chunk of their edits are/look legit. Could be a bootleg/cover or one-off vandalism
      • lazybookwyrm[m]: Didn't know you could comment on edits, thanks for letting me know! I'm still a bit new to musicbrainz
      • crism
Looks like a bunch of questionable self-adds, and voted down or deleted adds early in their career. Comments are probably the way to go here.
      • turtleidiot[m]
Added a note on the edit: https://musicbrainz.org/edit/119714521
      • <crism> "Looks like a bunch of questionab..." <- Their other edits are for real releases but i've noticed they seem to be adding EPs and singles as Albums and in the case of their travis scott edits thay're adding already existing releases
      • turtleidiot[m]: They added "Trance" by Travis Scott as both an album and then a single. Looks like they realised the mistake but instead of editing the release/group they made they made a second separate release?
      • crism
They seem confused, at any rate…
      • turtleidiot[m]
Yeah, that's what it looks like
      • <turtleidiot[m]> "They added "Trance" by Travis..." <- Should I merge the album release group into the single?
