nothing quite like the excitement of picking up some music from a good opening band, and seeing the stuff u got isn't on MB 😎😎

for video game soundtracks that are possible to purchase from Steam, should a link to that be added?
there isn't a specific link type for steam store pages

rph (@_discord_102038103463567360:chatbrainz.org) That would generally fall under "purchase for download"
and yes, feel free to add a link to that
rph[m]
yeah I know, but a lot of online music stores have a specific link type, I guess that's not necessary to add a link?
elomatreb[m]
it's not necessary, and generally we don't want dedicated link types for every page unless there's something specific about them
note that having a dedicated link type is distinct from being automatically rendered in the sidebar, e.g. "Stream on Spotify" in the sidebar is still a "stream for free" behind the scenes

When I have an album that doesn't match anything with MB (Different script) do I need to add each track separately?

If the files are in the correct order, you can drop them onto the first track and they should be assigned to that track and the next ones in sequence.

This is really random, but would you think that having separate fields for first and last (or even middle) name would be useful?
That way, someone could make more specific searches in the database
Or maybe it would be easier to find how common a name is
I don't know though, it's just a really random thought I just had

@zemeles: Not everyone has a first and a last name
standardising name structure is very difficult if you move beyond even a single country, and sometimes even within that

rph: Yes please to adding a Steam soundtrack link, but only if it really is the same. Often tracklists or cover art are different. You can check Steam cover art (for instance) by pasting the steam store link (for the soundtrack) into https://steamdb.info/, and then Metadata (in the sidebar) > Album Assets
rph[m]
the steam store page lists the track listing and it's the same as the one on the release + the album assets are the same
oh wait, the album art is different, but the track listing matches. what's the course of action in that case?
Would that be considered a separate release/pseudo-release/something else?
aerozol[m]
A new release :)
It should be easy to add, you can reuse the existing track listing and group etc, just change the release date and cover art etc to match the Steam store
I see - I will remove the link, create another release, and add it there

hey Aerozol (@_discord_537897767968833566:chatbrainz.org) apologies for still bothering you about this, but I am running into the following case:
- the tracklist on steam seems to be wrong, the files are different lengths from the listed track length
also the titles in the steam version of the soundtrack seem mixed up, the file has a different title from the bandcamp version, but they are the same length and appear to be the same file
