[Wait Wait... Don't tell me] is the show name! Now that you mention it, it does seem like a episode title
If it helps to remember - [show name] [date/episode number] [everything else] is important because then the files sort in order of episode number or release date, which lots of people need for podcasts

Done. The guideline should use this as an example haha
Aerozol[m]1
Beautiful, thanks
Thanks for the guideline example suggestion, we are missing the combo. I'm busy atm but I'll try remember to add it/talk to reo about transculding!

Thanks for your help.
Btw this episode is about a single (that I imported in MusicBrainz), is there a way to link that via a relationship?
You can get there by looking up the MB release URL and clicking the release actions link there.
Or you can use a bookmarklet or userscript which constructs the release/actions?release_mbid=... URL for you.
And I plan to have a direct release MBID or URL lookup on the release actions page in the future.
BlastboomStrice[
oh thank you! much better that maually editing the url
ok so I have some extra questions now
<kellnerd[m]> "You can get there by looking..." <- turns out, if you follow this, it won't add any new links to the release. for example, if that release doesnt have a link to spotify on mb, harmony wont know that this track exists on spotify.
is there any way to add those links automatically?
I suppose I could add a new release and then merge it, but it seems impractical
I'd like to add automatically add new info on releases that already exist on mb
harmony does a very good job finding and adding info to **new** releases
is it possible to somehow make it "update" already existing releases?
aerozol[m]
Link to the release in question?
BlastboomStrice[
possible ways I think that could do that:
1) getting spotify link->putting it in harmony->modifying produced link so that it goes to action page of harmony (very manual)
2) adding a new release with harmony and then merging it
aerozol[m]: umm it's actually many releases, I could give you one:
That Bandcamp release doesnât have a barcode, so Harmony shouldnât be matching it to Spotify etc anyway
BlastboomStrice[
yeah
aerozol[m]
I guess it would be nice to be able to seed missing Spotify URLâs etc to the release if thereâs a barcode, but the post-seed screen doesnât do that at all, so it would be a bit of a change I imagine
All that is done in the initial seed by Harmony, so I donât think it expects you to do it later
BlastboomStrice[
yeah
aerozol[m]
By the way, if you use userscripts, this might help you (even if it doesnât seed everything) - âMusicBrainz: Go to Harmonyâ script: Musicbrainz: Go to harmony
<BlastboomStrice[> "possible ways I think that could..." <- using option 1 I essentially pretend that the release doesnt exist on mb, let harmony do its search (which creates a url with spotify, deezer etc. ids) and then modify the link by adding the "actions" and plugging the mbid at the end of the url
elkiensad[m]
I just copy paste stuff from Harmonyâs add new release page to edited page at the moment
I tried editing console to change MB URL to /edit but it used to break stuff
BlastboomStrice[
elkiensad[m]: yeah, that's what Ive been doing too
aerozol[m]: will check
elkiensad[m]
that userscript is very useful to seed recording URLs
kellnerd[m]
<elkiensad[m]> "I tried editing console to..." <- Exactly, there are still some [MBS issues remaining](https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/MBS-13688). That's why I haven't integrated this officially, it requires more work.
BrainzBot
MBS-13688: Seeding updates to an existing release
BlastboomStrice[
oh I see
this would essentially do what I'm trying to do, correct?
<BlastboomStrice[> "possible ways I think that could..." <- I think I'll try to find a way to somehow make this process a bit more automated
kellnerd[m]
Please don't, it's better o properly add the Spotify link to the MB release by hand, then release actions will automatically use it.
s/o/to/
BlastboomStrice[
may I ask, will this try to search for deezer etc.?
I just tried it and it didnt, but it may not exist on other platforms
wait it does exist on deezer
kellnerd[m]
Just do a regular lookup like elkiensad and add all the missing links which Harmony finds to the existing release (if barcode and the rest matches).
BlastboomStrice[
I see
kellnerd[m]
That's the only missing step which can't be automated currently.
Once I get that to work, editing an existing release will be exactly the same as importing a new release, including the final redirect to the release actions.
But for now this gap of adding more external links has to be bridged manually.
BlastboomStrice[
cool cool, I have many releases to add so I can just do them and later come back to this
also I found a cool script that redirects to harmony/atisket from spotify on the browser
that may help
one more question (related to harmony): does it remove the tracking part of the url before searching a song?
* one more question (related to harmony): does it remove the tracking part of the url before searching a song?
(Ive been manually removing it so far)
kellnerd[m]
Yeah, I am also post-poning any updates to existing releases because it will be much easier once that is implemented. For me personally the question is always: Will it be faster to implement automation for something or is it worth doing it by hand đ
BlastboomStrice[: There should be no need to do that, every URL in Harmony gets mapped to an ID and back to a canonical URL. So if any tracking parameters slip through I consider this a bug.
BlastboomStrice[
does it also remove it before doing the lookup?
kellnerd[m]
Yes, extracting the ID from the URL is the first thing which happens. With most APIs you can only lookup by ID anyway.
aerozol[m]
Are you adding artist Discographies Blastboom? I have been checking out SAMBL a bit, pretty cool way to do it: https://lioncat6.github.io/SAMBL/
BlastboomStrice[
thank you! cool to know:))
kellnerd[m]
Yeah, artist and label pages are also on my endless list of Harmony feature ideas đ
BlastboomStrice[
aerozol[m]: yeah, Im searching for artists and I add the albums from spotify one by one (1. sometimes there might be already a few release groups on mb of that artist and 2. by albums I mean spotify albums, which could be translated to release groups in mb I think)
oh so this adds an artist to mb
hm cool
I use harmony for that haha
I get the links to ther artist from harmony and spotify bio
s/ther/the/
aerozol[m]
SAMBL links to Harmony - it just gives you an overview of whatâs still got to be added :)
elkiensad[m]
aerozol[m]: nice
kellnerd[m]
SAMBL is only supporting Spotify so far, but I've heard that lioncat6 wants to support other streaming services as well?
BlastboomStrice[
aerozol[m]: how does it work exactly, a bit confusedđ
elkiensad[m]
you can just check boxes in harmony for release importing
and usually spotify has the most extensive discography page for streaming
aerozol[m]
Yep! But because you import via Harmony it will of course add the other provider links, it just checks it against the spotify UPC
BlastboomStrice[
I press the view artist to add releases?
aerozol[m]
Paste in a Spotify artist URL in the top. And then press the Harmony link next to a release to import it. When you next refresh Harmony it should show that album as green/added
Usually I prefer adding from Bandcamp, but SAMBL is very satisfying :- 0
elkiensad[m]
[@kellnerd:matrix.org](https://matrix.to/#/@kellnerd:matrix.org) will harmony detect fields like purchase for download in bandcamp and apple music for recording mapping
<elkiensad[m]> "[@kellnerd:matrix.org](https://..." <- For recording-url link types? Unfortunately not, it doesn't really fit the data flow of how these release action links are generated. And for Bandcamp it would likely be annoyingly slow for very little gain: https://github.com/kellnerd/harmony/issues/95
