got a question about 'mediums' for digital releases. I'm unsure what the guideline is for them? In most cases I would presume one singular medium is sufficient and logical for a digital release; but can there be justifiable cases to use multiple mediums? for instance if the release is sequenced with CD-R burning in mind?

zoedivision[m]: IMO, it’s really about what someone would look for in the track listing after tagging their files. I have one “album” that was a USB stick with three folders of MP3s; I entered that as 1 release with 3 media. If the digital release somehow simulates a 2-disc album, then I would follow that, I guess.
Plenty of "disc 1" "disc 2" in places like Spotify which we would also keep separate

i always add digital releases with multiple media if i can find at least one source to support this (deezer tends to be good for this)

if it's specifically a bandcamp release and the album is released as 300 tracks on one medium then don't, but

I have two CDs in hand that have exaxtly the same tracks as the two differently named releases in this group: https://musicbrainz.org/release-group/0efd8250-71… . Both have different names ("Playboy" and "Sexual Feeling" from a different labels and have different barcodes and covers. should I a) add them both to the existing group with their respective additional names. or b)

(according to Picard the DiscIds are all different, as the track lengths seem to differ slightly)

The notes on the Discogs for the release group seem to explain the situation. I would say it is one release group. "Licensed to many small labels that released it under different names".
ah, great find, thanks. Then I will add them both to this group, with their respective release names. (and of course add DiscId and cover art)

If it isn't there already, adding a similar annotation to the release group would be helpful.

Hey I'm having a spot of trouble adding some album art. The automatically resized version comes out with the wrong colour, like with a colour banding effect. Does anyone know what's up with this? I tried saving in different formats and uploading again, but it happened to that as well. https://musicbrainz.org/release/2c778b17-9d4a-43f…

Not sure there’s anything you/we can do - the Internet Archive does the image processing on their end.

The issue seems to be that the original images already has banding. I added some more provider URLs to the release using Harmony, you could try importing a larger original image (eg 3x3k px) from one of those sources. I don’t know if that would help though.

Np! If you use userscripts then I can highly recommend the 'enhanced cover art' script to make importing the covers a breeze

I'll have to look into that, automation in general would help. Everything I've done on the site so far has been manually.
