I've even seen one or two discs with an obvs mastering error where what should have been two separate tracks got sequenced into one long track

Too much work for too little benefit IMO, but I may be convinced otherwise once there are tools actually making use of that data.

Hopefully one day it will help with LB matching...

Currently most of the stuff I add is not picking up on LB automatically because Spotify sends with artist credits in Latin script or tracks in Latin script VS what is in the database.

Or brainzplayer matching.

Personally I add them because I like having the full metadata present, and it could be useful for like... 2 people?

Joking aside, it's useful for linktree type stuff, since I'm making something like that as a booster shot for my web dev knowledge

To me it's like ISRCs. I don't need them, but it exists so I add. Even more that YoMo's open all scripts makes it easy

there's a lot of data in MusicBrainz that I personally don't use, but I'll fill out every field I can just because someone might benefit from it somehow

IMO the distinction is whether the packaging for each label is different - if the packaging is the same (it's the same SKU) then it's the same release

I don't know how that applies to digital media though

The Wikidata import script is much more useful than I assumed at first

There were some discrepancies when I disambiguated artists manually instead of referencing the other release these recordings came from, so I would appreciate a second pair of eyes

Any difference in artwork, including disc, back, etc, is a new physical release

I'd only bother if I were already adding multiple different releases for a release group (e.g. different vinyl colors or something) and saw an autographed copy as a separate SKU on a record store website or something
