Sooo if I have a standalone recording that is an unofficial edit (extended edit) of an unofficial remix of a song would the edit also be credited to the original artist just like the remix?

* the remix? And then just use the editor artist-recording relationship

sentriz (IRC): cannot you just run the replication from wherever it was left?

reosarevok[m]: its kind of a funny usecase . i don't have a local database, instead I have a long list of 1000s of gids locally and want to know if any were changed in last X time

its for library tagging software

and keeping that library in sync efficiently by only pull releases and related data which has changed

so was wondering if it could just inspect the repliaction packets and check for gids in there

Is the "Live" recording attribute still applicable for "live-in-studio" recordings? (not just public concerts, etc)

Is there an accepted way we handle ETI on tracks that already have brackets in the titles?

i don't think there's any guidelines on that, but what i've typically seen is a second set of parenthesis for the musicbrainz ETI

Hey people, hope you all are doing well. I just had a quick question. New to musicbrainz overall. I was wondering, how long before edits will be on mirrors? We made edits on the main server, and waiting for them to be on my mirror. I looked on another mirror and its not there either. I don't know if they do replicates.

elomatreb[m]
if they aren't using the live replication data, a database dump is published twice a week

I seen the live Replication, but it says testing or beta. Have you tried it? I just don't want to break it lol
2025-07-09 19037, 2025
elomatreb[m]
you can't really break anything, where does it say that?
2025-07-09 19031, 2025
elomatreb[m]
and just to make sure, your edit was applied? If it's a change to existing information (rather than pure addition), it may enter a voting period for up to one week
2025-07-09 19007, 2025
elomatreb[m]
(and edits in the voting period are not replicated to mirrors afaik)

Search indexes’ live update for mirror server is not stable yet. Until then, it should be considered as an experimental feature. Do not use it if you don't want to get your hands dirty.
2025-07-09 19008, 2025
elomatreb[m]
the search index is a separate feature
2025-07-09 19034, 2025
elomatreb[m]
that's only needed if your mirror site wants a similar search feature to the Musicbrainz site

Gotcha. Honestly, I have no idea what i am doing lol. I am running the docker, want as close to a full mirror as can be. We use it for searching, different apps, etc. Things that may require many hits, we try to hit mine instead of the official as to not add addition loads.
2025-07-09 19024, 2025
elomatreb[m]
the good thing is that even if you use the technically experimental search index replication feature, you still can't really break anything too much in the end
2025-07-09 19034, 2025
elomatreb[m]
if your mirror gets broken too much, you can always just delete and recreate it

also note that if your different apps are commercial in nature, you should talk to the metabrainz folks

Apps like jellyfin and headphones. Nothing commercial, all FOSS and selfhosted. Me and my friend has them. Just didn't want to announce which because of some places rules.
