crism: When organizing my collection, I want to a) know if tracks are duplicated across releases and b) be able to assemble a track list for each release.
And I'm still not sure why the soundtrack would be listed as a "work" and not a "release".... am I misunderstanding the nature of what that work is representing?

RE: My confusion about that "CD1" and "CD2" digital release thing. I made the release group like this: https://musicbrainz.org/release-group/2381001b-ce… , which seemed the most reasonable to me, though I'd appreciate if someone else took a looksie at it

Not an expert by any means but those two releases with the split media for one makes sense to me, given how they’ve presented it on Bandcamp vs Spotify

the LAEU-001 CDX code in the bandcamp description makes it pretty clear they consider them to be separate discs of the same release, I think

Doc_X: There have been multiple releases of the soundtrack. Someone considered the soundtrack as an abstract concept to be sufficiently coherent to merit being its own work, just as a symphony or sonata is, and modeled it accordingly. You can’t listen to a work, only a performance (or recording) of a work.

Also, there is exactly one soundtrack-work, while there have been multiple releases. Which release should be “the” soundtrack? Having the work explicit makes that easier.

The tracks on those releases, however, are all from releases called “evangelion:1.0 you are (not) alone. original sound track” or something similar, so I’m not sure what information you’re lacking.
