Guess it's programmatic, but you have to store the greyscale image files locally? (just wondering because in LB we are limited by not wanting to store anything (c) ourselves) Check it out monkey ^

I have a couple CD releases I highly suspect are bootlegs, but I still want to add them to MB. Problem is they both have no artist credit anywhere on them, AFAICT. Closest thing there is to one is a company that exists in MB as a label being printed on the spine.
2025-09-30 27316, 2025
notthejohn[m]
There is an official CD release with a very similar tracklist; should I use the same artist credit as that one? Or do something else entirely?

Digging a little further I did find a music production credit that does appear on the case (release in question here is a film soundtrack), maybe that would be a better fit?

I found an artist isn't on MB, there is one song tied to an artist of the same name, but I'm not certain its the same artist. There is an artist page for this one song artist that has a homepage that is a expired domain and the archive.org has it redirect to a wordpress site that says coming soon may 11, 2021. Should I update this already existing page with the current artist info and albums or make a new artist page?

i guess specifying the genra?
2025-09-30 27300, 2025
notthejohn[m]
if the typical genre of the new artist you're adding is distinct enough from the existing one, that could be good. I've done that with vaporwave artists before iirc
2025-09-30 27334, 2025
notthejohn[m]
I usually like specifying what they do if it's unique among the artists with that name, sometimes alongside their nationality if it's known. e.g. "saxophonist" or "American vocalist"

should i change the Disambiguation from genre to name?
2025-09-30 27306, 2025
rusty099905[m]
thank you found and added legal name alias
2025-09-30 27349, 2025
reosarevok[m]
Normally, the name is less useful as a disambiguation, because if I have some other release under the same name, I'm more likely to know what kind of music it is than the artist's legal name

<aerozol[m]> "Guess it's programmatic, but you..." <- I actually coded it trying not to host anything as much as possible, but since I couldn’t get the same result as `magick $input_image -dither FloydSteinberg -scale 290x290 -monochrome $output_image` with the native JavaScript, I'm currently storing a folder full of output_images. I am open to advice on this matter.
