I was wondering one month ago why it is so difficult to find Studios address in France. Kepstin had the intuition that it is because of "leak risks" avoidance and protecting privacy of well-known artists.

peculiar when, at least, having a good recording studio is a tremendously important part of releasing music nowadays

But I found a bigger reason for any reputable studio to limit any publicity about their whereabouts, even if they are still offering means to openly book studio time online/through telephone : building legislations on fire prevention.

Like if you receive outside public, you need fire escape doors, a solid cable management system, gaffers eveywhere, minimal accomodation for disabled people etc. depending on the size of your establishment
The song and its video were made to mourn the closing of the "Bell Foundry" in Baltimore ; old-foundry that became an artist "residence" that burned down to the ground. After that, the city of Baltimore closed every "abandoned places" that were inhabited/used by artists in the city.

Since then, in my country, France, I regularly search for "artist" + "burning/fire/arson" ; always multiple per year. Building regulations are 80% concerned with fire prevention, and today, the most vulnerable places frequently suffering fires multiple times every year are : art studios and small restaurants (excepting, of course private houses).

Chemical factories and big electronic equipment shops can't even compare.

Yeah, you have to make you address quite private to escape city regulation, especially while taking into account the amount of electronic devices + the frequency of artists smoking inside.

Hah. That seems like a perfectly likely theory for at least a lot of hip hop studios :D
