But the artist I want to upload music from has recorded in so many studios😔

And I want to add them, since I have the info available

But I have to create the studios and the recorders/sound engineers etc.

Is it bad if I dont add the studios?👉👈

And add the rest of info laterTM (which might be never)

I think that’s more than fine! It’s better for some info to be in the database than none at all, it can always get fleshed out more later whether by your or someone else entirely

tbh i kinda wish there was a "incomplete release" feature where you can mark something as a WIP

but keeping artists that are attached to it not GCed. since if you just make artists and not put them on a release, they get deleted after a day

you can make them stick around if you add something as simple as a URL to them

use case is for huge albums like 400 tracks long which are an utter pain in the ass to try and tag in 1 go
2025-11-22 32636, 2025
i522
i don't know how you fucking do that
2025-11-22 32655, 2025
elomatreb[m]
yeah a way to save work-in-progress stuff in the editor would be very nice
2025-11-22 32613, 2025
elomatreb[m]
also for the relationship editor, although there you can at least save incomplete stuff to the database
2025-11-22 32646, 2025
i522
i think you can use the tracklist editor (as a text string) to save your work
2025-11-22 32646, 2025
i522
and if you enter a mbid as an artist name it'll be linked automatically? i think?
2025-11-22 32624, 2025
elomatreb[m]
yes, but that also loses quite a lot of detail (such as manually selected artists)

later goop house stuff is so incredibly long and a pain in the ass to tag, so like half of their albums are untagged

Can I somehow upload a .json or something to an entity (artist/release etc.) to update or append info on jt?
artists should think of the poor metadata editors before making huge releases like that IMO

Like, my thinking is, if I somehow contact the artists and they give me all the metadata, could I somehow automatically add them to musicbrainz?

fully automated editing without human review is against the rules, but you could use the seeding functionality to save a lot of work (similar to how Harmony and other importer tools make adding a release as simple as a couple of clicks)
2025-11-22 32608, 2025
BlastboomStrice[
Yeah Id like to be able to review them first

but the key difficulty here is fitting the data into the Musicbrainz schema and terminology (e.g. we are picky about what "EP" means or capitalization)
