I noticed a bunch of songs have music videos and I'd want to link them but last time I checked it would have take 20 minutes per video/track lol
Cheezmo
You would need to add the "music videos" relationship and create a recording for the music video. Not sure if there is a quick way to do that for a lot of tracks.
Rexodys[m]
So creating a recording just for the music video would be the first step, like this?

Yes, then edit the other recording and add a relationship. Under the "recording" relationships there is one called "music videos" that will you can then link to your new video recording.
Its a little tedious but I'll try to make a couple see if my speed will improve haha
I've been posting to IMVDb for 6 months but none of my edits were reviewed yet, kind of useless and a waste of time 😂
Cheezmo
One thing that might speed thing up a bit. Copy the link to the audio recording. Then, when you create the video, you can add the relationship in the other direction right there so you don't have to go back and edit the audio one.
Good idea to check that there isn't a video recording already also, but they aren't that common unless they have been released on DVD or something.
Rexodys[m]
Ohh so smart 😀 thx!!
<Cheezmo "Good idea to check that there is"> yeah that take some times too as there is a lot of relationships for some recordings
is there an easy way to check all music video for an artist?
Both have zero votes and closes in 3 days. It's for a concert

mmirG: please reference https://musicbrainz.org/doc/Data_Removal_Policy - if the artist in question meets one of the conditions described for data removal, you should contact musicbrainz (metabrainz) support to discuss the details of that.
mmirG
I'm asking if this is technically available - not for it to be done.

"currently technically do-able?" would be more accurate
kepstin
that's not generally desirable, and as far as I know there's been no accepted requests made which required such a system to fulfill. so to my knowledge, such a system does not currently exist.

desirable? in what way? to who? And my question is if it is do-able?
kepstin
see the data removal policy document that i sent you a link to
there's no technical reason such a system couldn't be built, but it would probably require a well-explained use case to do so, and if you think you have such a case you should contact the support email.
mmirG
I am asking a question about technical capability. The application of that ability is a differennt question that I'm not asking here.
kepstin
there's nothing technically that would prevent such a system from being built.
mmirG
Thanks for your help - I will contact via support email.
kepstin
as far as i know, it does not currently exist.
if you just want to know for yourself if an artist with a specific name exists, you can easily do that by periodically querying the musicbrainz search api.
mmirG
this is much more a general case thing - in the very few cases where a removal is necesarry then this could be one semi-automatic way to keep it removed
Rexodys[m]
Sorry for the picture, but would you assume that this is the same recording?
Rexodys[m] uploaded an image: (25KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/OxppxmbbpLHbzVimiGLLdAac/image.png >
yeah, it's very likely (assuming the song doesn't have any e.g radio edits that occasionally get confused)
Rexodys[m]
Thx, so I won't get screamed at if I merged those two? I'm 99% sure it's the same lol
kepstin: "What, you were expecting me to put something here? Well, I guess I should say hi…" 😂 you got me
kepstin
yeah, should be fine. most of the time those pop music compilations end up using the same recording
just watch out for the case where there's multiple variations of a recording with close length - sometimes it might have a different one than expected
crism
kepstin, mmirG: I actually raised a similar question a couple of weeks ago… I’d like to have an alert on an artist name to look for duplicates and missed disambiguation. E.g., I’d like to subscribe to all current *and future* Ian Anderson, Ian Andersen, etc.

Can I put both the music video and the lyric video for a recording? Like so:

If they are both official of course...

@crism interesting convergence - same basic process would allow for both uses. I wonder if there are other uses too.
