to anyone else able to help -- I've looked over the log files and wasn't able to make much sense of anything .. I don't even see a specific request that mentions my search string so it's a little hard to follow

For future reference I would suggest using additional sources to Soundcloud and YouTube for releases, such as Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music etc.

is the api returning itunes links ? I always change thoses for apple music links since it's a redirection

Lotheric: yes, that's right. I keep having to do that myself and it's pissing me off. IIRC I did update the code but didn't deploy it...

do you think it'd be possible to add other complimentary links ? like tidal, youtube music, amazon, etc

or .. too complicated?

I prod it with a stick occasionally and stand back but adding major new functionality is not something I want to get into

an option to set worldwide would be nice too (when only british whatever isles don't get it I conseider the release worldwide)

of course it's easy to do it on the release form (on musicbraqinz site), just have to select like US and then change it to avoid the huge list but sometime I forget and leave it as us

alas, some people (strongly) believe having 180 release events is valuable information

I see it as useful (the huge list) when there's a reason other than country x is on this service and not in that service

for example here in french Canada, there's aoften a digital release for western european countries (where they speak french) and another release for the rest of the world (often 2 distributors)

yes, I probably don't get exposed to situations where it might be valuable very often

also releases that are edited/clean for the US market

often aren't released elsewhere in the world

OK, I just had a look at the code in my git repo and I did make some changes to submit Apple Music URLs with a type of "streaming page".

I don't use apple products but as I understand it iTunes still exist but it's a software and you have to buy release from within the software and it's no longer possible to buy from the website, am I correct?

IIRC, I tested it and it did work, but I was concerned it might break some links in edit notes.

it's 'beta' people can report it if it does break stuff

I've never used iTunes or Apple Music so I don't really know exactly. Basically the iTunes API just started returning Apple Music URLs, and then the iTunes URLs themselves began redirecting to Apple Music

someone gave me a tidal account for 3 months, good experience so far, they have a lot of credits compared to other services

I like the interface of the web player

I stay away from apple since I heard a long time ago that itunes was deleting stuff from your library without your consent

I heard that the Tidal library was a bit limited, or was that Qobuz?

and I stay away from Sony since they put rootkits in their music CDs in the early 2000s

I listen to hip hop and one owner of Tidal is JAY-Z so there's no lack of hip hop on it ;)

outsidecontext: do you want me to grant you access to the GH repo? I can only allow 3 collaborators as it's private on a free plan. I haven't made it public due to the lack of license.

kellnerd: I *don't* think they will, primarily because the iTunes ID and the Apple Music ID are the same.

However it's trivial to revert the change if there are any major issues.
