My name was added without my consent to an artist entry. I've edited the page to reflect my current name, but the old name is still in the history. Is it stuck there forever, or is there a way to scrub that?

Erin
so you're saying you're a subject/artist type entry?
you're definitely on the right track with the edits
i cant personally answer about scrubbing edit history info
definitely hang out here for a bit though
yyoung[m]
IIRC it has been discussed on dev meeting before
Erin
it does seem likely it would have come up before
so that would amke sense
reosarevok
hyprfnt: we don't have a way to change the edit history at the moment, but we already have a plan to allow that for birthdates
Once that is implemented, I can also see it used for deadnames that are not used for the music itself
(the plan is that a birthdate that was requested as private would be replaced by something like [REDACTED], and I can imagine that would also work here
)
Erin
that would make sense
a null placeholder
reosarevok
(there was a huge discussion about deadnames that were used to put music under originally, since it's hard to find a good compromise between keeping the credits people have in their files vs getting rid of the deadname, but as far as I understand that's not the case here anyway)
Erin
yeah this case at least appears to use a stage name
reosarevok
I'll make a note on that feature request noting we could consider using it for deadnames too, at the very least
hyprfnt
Yeah…I read a discussion about it on the…forums? Seems like a complex subject.
Erin
published ones are tough, cause it's obviously desirable to keep up with people's wishes
but it's also true that htings were definitely published under specific credits
reosarevok
hyprfnt: I'm sorry you had to read through that, it wasn't the most civil and constructive discussion we've ever had :/
I'll make a private note about your artist so that once we do implement that option I will hopefully remember to use it
hyprfnt
No worries. And thanks.
Erin
id almost suggest finding a way to tag deadnames in the intervening time, but i imagine that's not particularly easier than just doing the fix outright
d'oh, the beets plugin only queries, and does not submit.
oh hrm, "absubmit"
that is.. not what I would have expected it to be named
Freso
There has been talk about merging the two, but IIRC they were both made as GCI projects, so it made more sense to develop them in separate to make the tasks smaller and more self-contained.
And then it's just something that noone’s gotten back to. :)
