is there a way for picard to tag lyrics into flacs?

I was messing around with a webclient for mpd called romper and there's an info tab for lyrics. unfortunately, it says, "To use the lyrics viewer you need to ensure your local files are tagged with lyrics."

There's this: https://github.com/yask123/Auto-MP3-Lyrics-Tagger but it hasn't been maintained since 2015.

(also, it says it's for mp3 and python 2x and I have mostly flacs and python 3.8)

keep in mind that if there's any damage to the top side of the disk, then polishing the bottom isn't gonna help :/

what are you using to rip that you're having problems?

I'm not really sure about how the tag information is saved within the file. I believe that outsidecontext understands that stuff pretty well.

I don't know about picard, but beets has a lyrics plugin which can.

note that reading of FLAC lyrics is unreliable. there are two types, unsynced lyrics and synced lyrics

well, it's not unreliable, but many programs don't do it properly.

yeah, i saw that.

i don't need synced lyrics and apparently that's fine b/c there's a lyrics field that i can access via picard in flac.

i did try it and it works with rompr.

i just cheked and it also works with gmpc.

@derwin if i've already tagged everything with picard, do you know if can i have beets add JUST the lyrics and leave everything else alone (including where it found the files)?

the summary is that lyrics sites are a wretched hive of villiany with very low data quality and questionable legality

the nice thing about Bandcamp is that the lyrics are appended to the files in the tags

I would hope that there would be other similar sites which do this to the downloads they sell too
