yeahhhhhhhhhhh i dont know why people dont just learn the correct format
      • most of what i see is people using translated japanese as the "official" track titles
      • because thats what they want to read it as
      • KassOtsimine
Erin: yea. that behaviour left a bad taste for "plex" in my mouth
      • Erin
28 of the edits in my open edits are specifically correcting that https://musicbrainz.org/user/radicalerin/edits/...
      • KassOtsimine
happy to see plex user be so productive ^__^
      • Erin
because it creates one for the release, one for each song, and one for the metadata
      • oh all that is just one save
      • one "enter edit", 28 "edits" as a result
      • KassOtsimine
        those are recording edits
      • anyway tht's ot a big deal :)
      • Erin
        yeahhhhh
      • KassOtsimine
jesus cheese. but reosarevok for example, he has thousands of edits
      • weekly, i swear
      • i only have a huge amount because i've been around for long
      • Erin
is that someone doing wrong edits or something?
      • KassOtsimine
        lol what no?
      • Erin
        oh
      • well i mean
      • im abotu to hit 4k
      • KassOtsimine
reo is our style dude and he works on hissubscriptinoaartists usually fixing crap :D'
      • Erin
        but it depends
      • sometimes i just get 1 edit for adding vgmdb to a release
      • zer0bitz has quit
      • sometimes they didnt use the japanese names so i get 30 at once XD
      • KassOtsimine
        adding the link? yea
      • Erin
so i suppose i technically average 7 to 8 edits per day
      • KassOtsimine
        eeeh
      • do yo uuse any import scripts?
      • Erin
        for plex? or for mb?
      • cause no either way 8b
      • although it depends on how you view it
      • picard is a mass edit and save system that helps automatically match files to data
      • KassOtsimine
hm, those will massivly ease work for you when eg. importing vgmdb releases for example
      • Erin
so that might arguably be considered something like that
      • KassOtsimine
yea, i know-. i was here whne picard was first developed 8)
      • Erin
oh no im rarely doing that
      • one thing i do for other stuff
      • like, for importing anime or whatever
      • i use a tool called advanced renamer
      • and i have scripted some stuff for it, so that it can clean things up nicely
      • and you can save the profiles or whatever, so i do that
      • it's mostly a series of regex steps
      • KassOtsimine
yea i mean like import from like https://paradiserecordshtml.bandcamp.com/album/... to mb (the script makes it so importing is doable in afew licks, rather than, say having to copypaste things back and forth)
      • lol few clicks, not licks :D
      • Erin
        im downf or whatever 8b
      • oh yeah i just copy paste when editing mb
      • cause honestly, half the time im making decisions, not just blindly copying
      • KassOtsimine
sure. but import script *really* really* *REALLY* makes things easier. yo ucna edit not copypaste
      • Erin
like "well this time vgm says it's tv animation potato pancakes live vocal album" but the actual cover says "potato pancakes live vocal album"
      • or whatever
      • so i do consider that stuff
      • KassOtsimine
.. potato pancake is like.. lefse :notsurefry.jpg:
      • Erin
hm? are you asking if the thing i just made up is an anime?
      • KassOtsimine
oh no just.. potato pankcake is lefse isn't it?
      • i'm 100% that anime cna have such a silly mashed together neglish name :)
      • mashed together english*
      • Erin
        oh they do
      • so much
      • do you have any idea how much i hate translating those? o.o
      • KassOtsimine
it's prt of the charm, yanno
      • Erin
pretty girl big love 100% cupcakes
      • KassOtsimine
I mean. i like transliterations, not translations tbh
      • Erin
like, random english words in no logical order
      • KassOtsimine
        lol
      • Erin
mixed with actual japanese and just spelled out english in japanese script
      • its the worst T.T
      • KassOtsimine
purety guru biggu LABU 100% cappuCAKE ?
      • :D
      • i love that shit :DDD
      • Erin
        well
      • sometimes
      • sometimes not
      • sometimes it'll be mashed
      • kirei girl 100% koi keeki
      • KassOtsimine
excape the LABU is a big pink heeart with the "ai" kanji in it. but they insists it's pronouce "labu" aka "love"
      • Erin
        or some shit
      • and it ends up being the shit that kills translation tools
      • KassOtsimine
        but it's still cuuute
      • ugu
      • cuute ~
      • imean. gotta have ~ good old wavey dash
      • Erin
        oh yeah
      • or the uh
      • the fuck are they called
      • japan doesnt use quotes, they use these things that look like square brackets, but missing one bit
      • KassOtsimine
those not [ not ] but sort of half
      • Erin
        yesh
      • KassOtsimine
        yes exactly those
      • Erin
im bad at remembering the terms for things
      • but if they use the tilde, i keep that
      • KassOtsimine
        yea. same
      • Erin
if they use hyphens or whatever, i keep that
      • KassOtsimine
        very very me
      • Erin
quotes i actually replace with actual quotes
      • KassOtsimine
        oh no, don't do that
      • Erin
i mean not in the japanese name
      • KassOtsimine
the guidelines for jp is very strickt: use wtfever they use :D
      • Erin
but in a romaji pseudo, that's one of the changes
      • KassOtsimine
        oh yea
      • Erin
        but the tilde stays
      • KassOtsimine
for transliterations. yea i use "latin equivalent"
      • so like * isntead of the star they use for example
      • like in that one.. "Viva rock"
      • Erin
well if there's an actual star or heart or other weird ass ascii
      • i just keep that
      • KassOtsimine
orignal was like "biba ⭐ rocku" but translated i used "viva * rock"
      • Erin
im not up to the energy level of developing a bullshit special character mapping
      • if they're gonna be weird im not translating it
      • XD
      • KassOtsimine
        damn lag
      • Erin
        so it's viva [star] rock
      • cause fuck it
      • ...i dont think ive actually wrote "fuck it" in an edit note yet XD
      • KassOtsimine
sorry erin. i thikn we're having two differnt conversations really. i have tremendous lag, you are replying to stuff i'm saying and get a reply from me that i wrote long before you evne wrote your first message
      • i have. lmao
      • Erin
yeah it's possible there might be some lag
      • my indicator is that im currently good, lag-wise
      • KassOtsimine
ehm. no i'm certna there is lag, ircloud is showing the that my sentence is in "posting" mode for several seconds after i sfinish typing. several messages are cray before they are psoted. while others talk
      • are *gray
      • Erin
        thats rough
      • if you feel up to change, i love hexchat
      • KassOtsimine
        neh. it means nothing
      • Erin
        8b
      • KassOtsimine
actually i use ircloud here becasue the connection is shit and with any other (i've tried hexchat, its a fork of xchat afaik) thy jsut time out all the time and i get disconnected
      • this machine id in the kitchen and. for osme reasno it feels too far away from the living room. the living room machine is fine and always connected
      • Erin
and as we speak, ive run into another reason to not copy paste
      • mb, vgm, and amazon disagree on a barcode T.T
      • KassOtsimine
        🤷
      • Erin
99% sure vgm is wrong this time
      • KassOtsimine
if vgmdb and amazon disagree i'd see if they have scans
      • lilly amazon's is crap anyway
      • likly*
      • really? i'd put a bet on amazon being ffaulty before vgmdb
      • is it on discogs?
      • Erin
        oh vgm is definitely wrong
      • their barcode for the original item is actually a special edition one
      • KassOtsimine
the text disagrees with th scan?
      • Erin
if you look up their wrong barcode, it brings you to cdjapan with the special edition
      • ev
i wouldn't say it's a foregone conclusion which one is better, they are both likely fairly wrong
      • KassOtsimine
hmm, why don't we have a cdjapan import script? .. who woudl write that? loujine?
      • ev
my source of scans is the Allmusic site
      • and ebay
      • KassOtsimine
        sallmusic's scan are often good
      • ut not foolproof ofcourse
      • ebay are usueally good :D
      • ev
since discogs blocked the fetching of the full-sized images i get them from allmusic, usually the allmusic ones are quite high resolution and are great for a reference
      • Erin
no it's pretty much certain vgm is wrong this time
      • ev
        often 2000*2000 roughly
      • Erin
everyone is using the same barcodes but them
