One last question. The two works together count as a new recording, right?
crism
If two recordings were stitched together to make a new one, the combination is a new one, but you can make a recording-recording relationship to indicate this.
I lied. One more question. What do demo or in progress tracks get marked with? They're not covers.
Wait, so I should link recordings and not works?
crism
Let’s say Joe releases an album with track 1, a recording of song 1, and track 2, a recording of song 2. On Joe’s Greatest Hits, there is a single track, created by concatenating track 1 and track 2 from the original album.
On the new album, the track titled “Song 1 / Song 2” has work relationships (recording of) with song 1 and song 2. It should also have a recording relationship (edit of) with track 1 and with track 2 on the original album.
Early recordings of a work are just recordings of a work. I don’t think MBz has a way to track the evolution of a song like that.
Unfortunately, I can't just paste the image in. I've been spoiled by Discord.
Also, what about the incorrect title on the art? How should I note that?
Anyone?

PelvicSorcery: actually if you use irccloud you an paste images
aerozol
Incorrect title: If you know for sure it's wrong I would correct it but add a note to the release annotation. Potentially add an alias for the other name to the recording etc
MB generally tries to fix 'mistakes', in these cases I'm tempted to leave as on art for reasons, but people will tag and scrobble etc with these names so I try to be good and make sure they have good data
PelvicSorcery
The artist told me themselves when I asked about it. I'd say that counts as knowing for sure. :D
aerozol
Hah, I dunno, did they do the paperwork in triplicate??
That's excellent though, make sure to mention that in the edit note, so nobody changes it back again
Junxter has quit
PelvicSorcery
I usually put when I get info from the artist directly into my edit notes.

I forgot the others where I did that.
IIRC, some of them were demo tracks that got name changed.
aerozol
If there were earlier releases before he changed the name they should keep the old name though right?
Thin line between 'mistake' and 'changed my mind' :P
Weird. That edit looks a lot like the one that shows up after you attach a disc id.
Thanks.

I chose a popular release to make sure I had a discid to screenshot
:)
(with the set durations link)
PelvicSorcery
I meant that when I add a discid it gives me the comparison bit with the durations. I assumed that meant it was updating the durations to those on the discid.
