hello! is there any conventions on labels used on digital releases where that label only releases records of a single artist? does that count as self released? there's no info on the label other than that it's credited on deezer/spotify etc so I'm assuming it's more like a wrapper for self-releasing than an actual label

cleanus: that's often a matter of judgement. If it's a label with a consistent (and useful) name, and you feel like adding it, then you can do that. If not, `[no label]` is probably fine too
      • labels where it's obvious that `[no label]` should be used are things like the DistroKid labels which consist of something like "DK <a bunch of numbers>"

        allright, thank you!

Why do I keep finding the random one off version of a release that no one else has entered?
      • Okay, this is weird.  I'm trying to import the discogs for the album, and I'm getting this warning when I do so.  "This label/catalog number pair already exists."
      • How do I search for that pairing?

PelvicSorcery: https://musicbrainz.org/search, select "advanced query syntax" and search for a release, search string: `label:"labelname" AND catno:"Catalog number"`
      • PelvicSorcery
I tried it with and without the backticks and I just get a server error.  `label:"Maverick" AND catno:"R2-532153"`
      • And then I tried it with the link you provided instead of the one I had open, and I get no results found.
      • elomatreb[m]
        Without the backticks
      • but that should work
      • PelvicSorcery
The results were the same.  On the original search I did I got an error both ways, and then using your link I got no results.
      • That is the discog I'm trying to import.
      • elomatreb[m]
I'm not finding anything for that catalog number either
      • PelvicSorcery
Any idea why the import would be telling me that something exists?
      • Is it going to break anything if I continue with the import?
      • elomatreb[m]
At worst you would create a duplicate which can easily be merged again
      • So I would just continue
      • PelvicSorcery
Okay.  I'll blame you when I get yelled at. :D
      • Uh, what packaging is this?  Box?  Cardboard sleeve?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZTuIpCK_i8

I would think so, but I'm not super familiar with CD packaging styles
      • I mostly do digital releases
      • PelvicSorcery
The individual discs are cardboard sleeves.  I just don't know what to call it as they're all in an additional sleeve.
      • elomatreb[m]
You have a cardboard sleeve containing five other cardboard sleeves :P
