well i don't know what t osay. i zoo out soo much that the icons are blurry anyway :D
have you tried aking it even bigger the note? or give it another, contrasting colour (not magenta)
elomatreb[m]
If the small work icon is acceptable, the note is definitely fine

Might be as good as we can get it, any bigger it merges with the edges when it's small, and all those icons just have two colors

elomatreb[m]: strange. I submitted a bunch of ids over a week ago that still aren't matching. I'm assuming I'd get an error back if the submit wasn't working for some reason? I just checked my api key is correct and it is.

eharris: does it work if you simply try again? At worst there would be two submissions on the queue

outsidecontext: Ah, thanks. It seems to be an issue with the Work & Movement plugin, if I disable that, Work gets set again for non-classical tracks. I had assumed the plugin would provide more Work relationship info rather than deleting info.
elomatreb[m]: I've tried albums several times over the past week, and the tracks I'm submitting still aren't getting detected properly if I scan them.
outsidecontext: After reading that ticket, maybe what I'm looking for (for non-classical tracks) is a composition-type field. How would I go about getting picard to set the work as the composition?
I don't really want to disable the Work & Movement plugin, because I do want that info set whem I'm working on classical tracks.
I just also want composition info for non-classical.

eharris: you might want to post on the community forums, there is a category for acoustid

eharris: I think currently you can't if the W&M plugin removes the data. But actually I think the plugin should preserve the original values from MB in a custom tag or at least scripting variable
eharris: I'll update the plugin to do that, then you have access to the work again for your use. Do you currently use some specific work related scripting?
eharris
outsidecontext: not currently, but I like having that info in there because I was planning to use it to improve player software and playlist generation so that it doesn't play different versions of the same "work" in close proximity.
I don't want to hear two versions of the same song too close together
everyone: please do genre tag instruments! it's good to be a s spesific as possible. eventually we (Reosarevok and myself) will link instruments to genres!
also if oyu see any issues (wrong instrument linked ot genre etc) please speak up!

outsidecontext: I think maybe that will work, although I think that the Composition/Work should be something that would be worthwhile to have Picard set always, so that there is a standardized place for it and other software can also use them.
outsidecontext: how would I test that change in my installed version of picard? Version 1.0.2 is the version that is showing up in my plugins config.

bit of a longshot here, but has anyone had issues hitting the API in the last week or so? particularly from the UK/EU?
seems like a possible routing issue with Hetzner but I wanted to see if anyone else had issues before I reach out to them

CatQuest: re. tagging instruments, just if an instrument is fairly niche? Or are you aiming to link guitar to 100+ genres? (I think most music I listen to just uses the generic rock & roll instruments)
