hi, I just added the following release https://musicbrainz.org/release/49229376-fb4f-496… and would like to check that it's ok to do what I did. First, it's not an album release but an special TV program that was broadcasted in Argentina and which consisted of 11 songs played one after another (The program can be watched in the youtube link I added)
      • 2023-04-18 10812, 2023

      • antlarr
I used Broadcast + Compilation (I originally used Broadcast + Live, but it's clearly recorded in studio and edited, so it's not really live, also, Compilation probably makes more sense since it's a compilation of songs from different argentinian composers)
      • 2023-04-18 10802, 2023

      • antlarr
also, is it ok to use "Lito Vitale + Various Artists" as artist credit? He's the producer and probably arreglist of all songs and appears in the credits of all tracks
      • 2023-04-18 10857, 2023

      • antlarr
finally... I added some artists that weren't in MB but the last track has MANY missing artists, so I did a "trick" and added their names in the join phrases between artists that were in MB. Hope that's ok (I thought it would be better than not writing their names at all)

I think it might be considered a loophole in the "phrase joins" definition. The problem is... I'm not spending that much time adding so many "minor" artists I don't know at all and who probably won't be used anymore in MB
      • 2023-04-18 10812, 2023

      • derwin
        well... I mean...
      • 2023-04-18 10818, 2023

      • derwin
you can just add them with no attached information
      • 2023-04-18 10839, 2023

      • derwin
it's not ideal, but it's a lot better than what you're doing...

if you're not going to do it properly then don't do it at all
      • 2023-04-18 10855, 2023

      • reosarevok
Yeah, I'd just add them, with maybe a disambiguation like "Argentinean, collaborated with Lito Vitale" if you feel the name is common enough :)
      • 2023-04-18 10831, 2023

      • atj
abusing join phrases because you can't be bothered to add a load of artists isn't acceptable IMV, sorry
      • 2023-04-18 10833, 2023

      • reosarevok
I think it's fine to have this under Lito Vitale - not sure Various Artists on the release adds anything of use in that case though?
      • 2023-04-18 10805, 2023

      • atj
should the recordings be flagged as videos?
      • 2023-04-18 10825, 2023

        Probably

      • 2023-04-18 10842, 2023

      • aerozol
Plus, adding little-known artists is fun!
      • 2023-04-18 10844, 2023

I personally think it's it RIGHT ON THE BORDER of abusive use of the site..
      • 2023-04-18 10847, 2023

      • antlarr
I'll flag the recordings as videos and change the release artist credit to just Lito Vitale (without "Various Artists"). About the artists... I think at least this allows to see that there are missing artists that can be added little by little in the future as they're added to MB

      • antlarr
note that many don't even have any other reference on the internet (I searched for some in google). Not even a homepage, or a reference in another site outside this release
      • 2023-04-18 10824, 2023

      • derwin
no one is going to go back to this release, notice the abuse of the join phrase and think "huh, I wonder if those artists now exist in mb" and remove them as they are added
      • 2023-04-18 10830, 2023

      • derwin

I added a few (from the other tracks) and for a couple of them I spent some time trying to find out any link (some had quite common names, so instagram/facebook/youtube links were unrelated, but I checked them anyway)
      • 2023-04-18 10859, 2023

      • reosarevok

I've added a lot of blank artists, I always try to find extra information/links but if there isn't anything to be found then it's the best you can do
      • 2023-04-18 10854, 2023

I often add a disambiguation like "featured on 'song name' by artist".
      • 2023-04-18 10801, 2023

      • antlarr
reosarevok: some of the tracks of this release were released in Spotify as singles (3 of them I think). If I add them, then I can't reuse the recording id since it'll be marked as "video". Should I 1) reuse the recording and not flag them as video? or 2) flag the recording as video for this and create a new recording for the spotify release?
      • 2023-04-18 10829, 2023

      • antlarr
atj: that's probably a better idea than "argentinian singer", indeed
      • 2023-04-18 10850, 2023

      • reosarevok
Create a new recording, but you can (should) just copy the artist credit with the copy button so you don't need to re-enter it

CatQuest: it's quite annoying to fix, actually, because there's not one line per artist - there's one line per linked artist and then a bunch of join phrases with a lot of names :)
      • 2023-04-18 10857, 2023

hey. Just installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 and a new install of Firefox and I can't seem to log in to Musicbrainz. "The form you’ve submitted has expired. Please resubmit your request." -- no add-ons, clean profile, safe mode... nothing. Any ideas?

(and by "just" I mean within the last few hours -- totally clean Windows & Firefox)

Took a moment to install Google Chrome from official sources -- yeah that works. So no internet/IP/VPN nonsense suspected.

Developer tools don't show too much of interest to me. It's all 200s. Console does show "Content Security Policy: The page’s settings blocked the loading of a resource at inline (“script-src”)." -- I'm not sure that's fatal. Ah -- now this... Cookie “musicbrainz_server_session” has been rejected because it is already expired.

        Not sure that's the fish. It's a 3yo FF82 bug, I'm on 112, but it was updated 3d ago.

And got it. "New Windows you say? What time is it on the Windows clock? What time is it on the wall clock" -- yes, indeed they did not match. Updating the timezone in the Windows settings and sync'ing was a fix. Some hardware RTC tom-foolery must have occurred without me noticing, probably to due with DST. DST and computing issues, name a more
