bwbuhse: if you've got tagged files, you can submit it from Picard. load it in, hit Cluster, then right-click and "Add cluster as release". if you don't have tagged files, there are some importers from other databases, like Discogs

1 month since Harmony started seeding recording URL relationships, ~100k relationships added in that time (of 450k all-time)
i wonder how many correct links have been removed from the database to appease harmony in that time

On that note(Aerozol's): Is there a userscript for MB to open the "Release Actions" page on harmony? I seen it now has a search box to go there, but a userscript adding a button would be even faster 😄

Ivy: I don't think I follow - Why would Harmony need appeasing/encourage link removing? :S
ivy
Aerozol[m]1: i was confused as well but i've seen people remove correct links to sites like tidal or apple music because "they create wrong relationships in harmony" - i object to in edit note and raised it on the forum and no one seemed to care
Just seems like unreliable data tbh, better to store the URLs at the release and recording levels. But I don't have a really strong opinion about it
ivy
in this case, it didn't mix up a bunch of artists, there was *one* artist who released a single which some streaming service (Tidal or Deezer, i don't remember) miscategorised
and this was used as justification to remove the link
Aerozol[m]1
In other words, Deezer mixed up releases from multiple "Altan" artists into one profile
ivy
they accidentally added one single to Altan which shouldn't be there, yes
Aerozol[m]1
But sorry that you butted heads with another editor, that definitely happens to me every few years D:
ivy
Altan have (i think) 13+ albums, all of which were on Deezer (or Tidal or whatever it was) and now we don't have that information because of one error in one single...
Aerozol[m]1
Based on the forum topic, you would be well within your rights to re-add the link, as a votable edit, and let the editor who removed it know. I think you just didn't get replies because nobody had anything to add
is yvanzo the other person who edits a bunch of Irish folk stuff, because if so i applaud that but also i have better things to do than get into edit wars on MB, you know :-d
Aerozol[m]1
Yah I know, but sometimes better to put something to a vote than be annoyed at the database for ages! I feel you though

Othe fun stats: in 2020 users added about 700 releases /day, now in 2025 it is about 1700 releases /day
I can't quite understand the style guide on language. I have a collection of French songs from an English company. The collection title and all the track names and artists are in French, but the supporting text (legal/procedural wording and the contents of the booklets) is in English. I guess there are more words in English, but the all of the most important words are in French. What should I use as the language?

the script and language on the musicbrainz release should be set based on the language of the most important metadata - track and release titles being the primary thing.
Toasty
Thanks.

heyo, what's the rules on adding music that has only been released via a folder within a steam game?
oh also it seems that updates have extended the list of tracks, but I don't really have a history of the changes nor concrete release dates
kepstin
should be analogous to e.g. back when games were published on cd which included music as audio tracks on the same disc. the release itself is the game, and the music is one "medium" on the release.
