Hi. I need some guidance on adding a classical release
2025-06-21 17231, 2025
fliz
for the release "artist" I'm doing "composer, composer; performer, performer" as the style guide dictates
2025-06-21 17232, 2025
fliz
but
2025-06-21 17221, 2025
fliz
for the tracklist page, do I do the track artist (composer), or do I do the recording artist (performer)?
2025-06-21 17200, 2025
fliz
if the answer is the composer, then how to I ensure the recordings tab correctly has the performers?

@fliz: The tracklist artists should be the composer, yes. For the recording artists, you have to edit them after adding the release, but we have userscripts that remove the tediousness from this
now how to I run the script. I already had greasemonkey installed and installed the script
2025-06-21 17210, 2025
fliz
it says it can edit from an artist or work page. I think I need to install the one that works on a release page
2025-06-21 17208, 2025
fliz
the documentation for the script is unclear

Description:
2025-06-21 17250, 2025
fliz
Copy the performers in recording relationships to the selected recordings "artist" field
2025-06-21 17251, 2025
fliz
How to use:
2025-06-21 17253, 2025
fliz
Click the "Show checkboxes" in the right-side script menu to display the individual recordings. Select the ones you want to modify (there is an optional "select all" button). Click "Replace selected artists" to apply.
2025-06-21 17256, 2025
fliz
NB: the edit will be sent only once but in case of failure you can click "Replace selected artists" again to retry only the selected recordings where a failure occured
2025-06-21 17259, 2025
fliz
I don't see "show checkboxes"
2025-06-21 17205, 2025
fliz
I see the select all button, but it does nothing
2025-06-21 17228, 2025
fliz
also, the performers in this case are Mireille Podeur and Orlando Bass.
2025-06-21 17241, 2025
fliz
They are credited as "Duo Podeur & Bass"
2025-06-21 17233, 2025
fliz
I can use the "artist as credited" and "join phrase" to get the output to be "Podeur & Bass", but if I add a blank addition artist to include the join phrase "Duo" it throws an error because it doesn't like the blank artist
2025-06-21 17207, 2025
fliz
any idea how I squeeze "duo" in there? Should I just say the artist as credited for Mireille Poduer is "Duo Podeur"?

fliz: depends on if you consider the "Duo" part of the actual artist name, or just an information that this is in fact a duo
2025-06-21 17249, 2025
elomatreb[m]
I think I would leave it as "Podeur & Bass"

regarding the userscript, you first need to add the relevant relationships (like you did with the first track), then once that is finished you can use the box in the sidebar
ok. I'll give it a shot. I'll be back with further questions if anything's unclear. Even if I think I did everything right, I'll ping in here afterwards.

ok. I think I added the performers (and vocals for the 2 tracks with them) and also linked the works
2025-06-21 17236, 2025
fliz
I'm unclear on the next step (actually getting the script to work)

Do you see the box in the sidebar on the release page?
2025-06-21 17258, 2025
fliz
yeah. but it doesn't have a "show checkboxes" like the documentation says

There should be a "Replace artists" section you can expand, which also makes the checkboxes show up for me

ok.. I just looked at the script on the github page and it seems to suggest I need to use tampermonkey instead of greasemonkey
2025-06-21 17211, 2025
fliz
do you think that might be the issue? what script manager are you using elomatreb[m] ?
2025-06-21 17251, 2025

I'm using Tampermonkey, don't know if that makes a difference though

though I guess if the script docs say that it does

potential improvements: Since this is a digital release, do you have any links to the release on online stores/streaming providers? That helps a lot with identifying stuff
