opatel99: If you're bored, there are plenty of unclaimed coding tasks, you can go write some reviews, there are the BrainzBot issues, beets has a bunch of tasks, but you're also free to poke at beets' own bug tracker for some of its non-MeB related issues, there's morituri that has a number of open issues, including some MeB related, ...

i did, at least in the conf, check /etc/nginx/sites-available/musicbrainz on dagon
the only positive thing i see, but cannot explain is that it seems we have less 50x responses
i will make a dagon only graph for this, it should be more obvious
actually not that obvious, perhaps just nothing
and dagon load didn't decrease, the gzip thing doesn't cost much
on bert i saw no change either, so the gain is very low if any
aquarius has quit
Freso
It's too white out there. Brr.
Freso crawls back under the cover
reosarevok
:D
It's nice!
zas
ruaok: i'll revert changes, just keeping warning fixes
ruaok
yeah, not terribly surprising.
ok.
more graphs seem like a good idea.
reosarevok: wow, that was fast. I like this arrangement.
reosarevok
I mean, it's harder if the stuff isn't on iTunes or the like, but still, yeah :)
Pretty good
zas
yes, i will over the time anyway, but tails disk write speed will be a limit. The whisper database graphite is using isn't great for that. Since now we are using grafana there are more alternatives (influxDB e.g.), i'll have a look at this later. Of course, using a SSD would improve things, but i prefer to work on software for now, whisper is just bad at
using the disk imho (and this is shared by many according to the web).
ruaok
lets hope that if people agree that someone will improve it.
reosarevok: another case for colby ray?
reosarevok
Do you mean the Ben one? Nah, that seems to be more of a BBC mismatch again. I'm on this.
Freso: By name, there is no identifier to automate the manipulation of that field. Additionally, I'm skeptical the scraper could work. I have found three events. All with different class naming structures.
If so, the relevant linkID for event-social network seems to be 783
opatel99
reosarevok: That should work! Thanks!
reosarevok
(that's specifically for releases but I'd expect that kind of code to be the same for all)
(if it's not, ask bitmap :) )
opatel99
Freso: New plan. Update the Facebook API script to scrape the url from the facebook page, pull out the unique event-id, run it through the API, get all this information, and GET request to event/create.
reosarevok
That sounds like a good plan to me :)
Does the API require any sort of key or is it just open?
opatel99
reosarevok: There is a key. Limit is 600 requests in 60 seconds. It's not exactly simple to register for one either... Freso and I agreed that it may be ok to start with using our own key. If demand exceeds supply, a fallback key as well.
reosarevok
600 requests in 60 seconds? Does it need one request per event?
If so I really hope we don't exceed that :D
(well I hope we do I guess but it'd require a lot of people suddenly deciding to import events at the same time)
opatel99
reosarevok: Correction. 60 requests in 600 seconds.
reosarevok
Oh, ok. Still, I think it might be fine :)
opatel99
Also, I will shoot for one request per event.
But I'm not sure if Authenticate user log in is one request...
Freso
reosarevok: How's dufferzafar
's iTunes importer compared to nikki's?
reosarevok
I dunno. I use nikki's one because it's what I had installed, I think this was a fork of some sort??
gcilou: Sorry for dragging this out, but I need to go teach some (other ;)) kids now, so I won't be able to actually watch your video for several more hours. :( I will get around to it tonight though. Sorry!
Freso not Canadian!
gcilou
Freso, ok.
Canadian?
Freso
gcilou: Also, your dad wrote about you on LinkedIn, in case you didn't know. :p
gcilou
Yes, I saw that :)
(I did get a LinkedIn)
Freso
So much for no social media ;)
gcilou
I know.. my mom wanted me to get one so..
chrisskye
gcilou -In Canadian, you must start or end every sentence with “sorry”.
Freso
Heh. To further your pianist career? :)
chrisskye
unless the phrase ends in “eh"
gcilou
chrisskye, Ah, I see now. lol
Freso
Also, chrisskye would know. She is Canadian.
chrisskye
multi-generations
Freso
:)
gcilou
Freso, no, I don't know why she thought I needed one. I don't really play much anymore
Freso
gcilou: Ah. Oh well. :) (Also, you should play more! And you should go to stuff like Ethno while you're young enough.)
Oh, violin is neat too. Def. check out Ethno if you're up for a non-classical music camp. :)
zas
i'm doing an experiment that is likely to break mb, so expect errors on main website within next minutes.
Freso was one of the organisers for the first two Ethno Denmarks
ruaok
alastairp: MOB is a comfy space so far. I'm quite enjoying it. friendly people, good coffee.
Freso also set in the JMI Ethno Working Group for a few years.
Freso
*sat
zas
What's MOB ? MetaBrainz Office Base ?
Freso (so may be slightly biased)
gcilou
I'm more into classical though.. That'd be cool. I have lots of violin auditions and concerts and solos and rehearsals coming up..
Freso
zas: Makerspace of Barcelona, I think.
gcilou: As a musician and a dancer, I will just say that it can definitely pay off to get familiar with styles you don't normally frequent. Even if you don't go all-in on the unfamiliar styles, getting to know them *will* increase your artistic "vocabulary".
