lucifer: I’m excited about the ‘don’t play me this’ function too! How are you going about it? Seems like there’s a few options
e.g. recording vs artist, snooze vs never again
lucifer
aerozol: yup, can snooze or never again an artist release release group or recording
aerozol
Tumeke! (too much) 😍

regarding LB, what needs to happen for a recording link to MBz to be made?
example being my earliest ever "listen", Welcome to My Life by Simple Plan (I know embarrassing), it can be played (so theres spotify mapping of some kind) but if you click Open in MusicBrainz it returns:
hi soundandvision, how did you load this data to listenbrainz?
soundandvision
well it was a while ago... and i've had a few drinks and sleeps since, but going by the date (2008) i'd say its from last.fm, using scrobbles from my ipod
so probably the last.fm import tool
alastairp
I see that the listen that was submitted included this recording id, so it looks like we're trusting that data (perhaps data provided by last.fm?)
and perhaps either this item has since been deleted from MB, or it was bad data
I'm looking at the data from our api for your user (if you know how to read API):
soundandvision
i won't say im fluent, but always happy to give it ago :D
alastairp
I see both `track_metadata.additional_info.recording_mbid`, and also `mbid_mapping.recording_mbid`, see that the second one is in fact what you expected to open

this might be something to run past lucifer, it's possible that we should look at submitted recording mbids, and if they are not/no longer in the recording table then we ignore them
soundandvision
ok, neat :D
aerozol
Editing listens is on the to-do list, isn’t it? Without looking at that code it seems like someone was naughty and deleted (instead of merging) a MBID
soundandvision
is it worth raising a JIRA ticket for this?
alastairp
aerozol: the issue is in fact that the value for "recording_mbid" in that listen is a track gid, not a recording
because lastfm's API has always returned dodgy data, and we shouldn't be trusting it
hey, self-confidence shouldn't be looked down upon hehe
alastairp
in fact, it looks like we since updated the lastfm importer to treat this value as a track mbid (which I'm still not sure is the 100% correct thing to do, but we'll see)
so I suspect that soundandvision did an import before we identified this bug and fixed it
soundandvision
poop, if i re-ran the import what would happen - data double up or replaced?
alastairp
soundandvision: have you added items to LB using other methods? You could delete + reimport
I think if you reimported directly over it, nothing would happen because the data already exists (I _think_)
aerozol
definitely not looking down on it! Just enjoying it :P
soundandvision
just "natively" via Spotify (so Spotify > LB not via Last.fm)
alastairp
soundandvision: ok, so deleting everything might be a bad idea then :)
opening a ticket to track [hah!] these cases might be a good idea
ok I will do that in due time, sometime this evening
alastairp
new last.fm feature. interesting that they give this to pro users!
aerozol
Ooh interesting. On topic, I think a lot of people go pro on last.fm for the editing listens function
soundandvision
I could have sworn that feature was free once upon a time, or at least when I was using last.fm on the daily
alastairp
aerozol: interesting
soundandvision
(the search function, not the editing bit that aerozol mentioned)
or maybe im getting my memories confused with the ability to just type in the artist and it would show you how many *scrobbles* you had submitted for them
aerozol
Interesting use of the term ‘Library’ for sure. I’m guessing they mean history? Or no?

alastairp
yeah, "search, but only for things that you've listened to, rather than the whole MB database"
aerozol
Oh right, in their terminology ‘Library’ is the history. Library of scrobbles I guess. Works for me tbh
alastairp
ah, sure

correct; attempting to re-import my last.fm profile tells me there's nothing new to import :P
