bitmap: don't update the POT files in production though :)
bitmap
right, I didn't merge anything into production except the PR
kellnerd
The restrictions/descriptions mismatch might have a different reason, according to the history it was changed 12 days ago already. Was fuzzy matching already enabled by then?
MonkeyPython
🙏 instrument rel alias search fix oh
prathamg
MonkeyPython Thanks! I use the default kiwi client for libera chat. I'll check out irccloud but I think it is paid.
bitmap
MonkeyPython: we'll probably deploy that later today, but rn I'm just releasing a pre-equisite change to load the data. :)
prerequisite*
MonkeyPython
bitmap: yea I kinda undertood that. there is someting bout putting instrument aliases in the redis that reo explained to me sort of
sure, unless reosarevok wants to test it on his machine first?
prathamg_ joined the channel
prathamg has quit
prathamg_ is now known as prathamg
yvanzo
reosarevok: Fuzzy matched strings are not used until a translator unmark these. :)
(that was something else indeed)
reosarevok
Did it use to cause issues between bitmap and yvanzo pots?
If yes I don't think it needs more testing
yvanzo: sure, I know, just it looks silly to have it prefilled to something seemingly random :D
MonkeyPython
there is a weed joke in there
bitmap
not sure, maybe when I ran update_pot.sh on macOS. but I haven't done releases in a while
reosarevok
Ok, I can try
yvanzo
reosarevok: Sure but it did not happen so far.
reosarevok
Well, kellnerd suggested it did happen 12 days ago with descriptions vs restrictions, hence asking :D
Anyway, testing
The PR
bitmap
I thought you meant the wrapping
reosarevok
haha
I meant the wrapping for my question on pots, the fuzzy stuff with my question directly to yvanzo
Sorry, it all made sense in my head
Tested, my pot is unchanged
I now quit smoke
MonkeyPython
the pot is making reosarevok's head fuzzy
:D
yvanzo
Oh sorry, didn’t see that.
Easy to spot though, and that’s the reason why fuzzy messages are not used.
reosarevok
Yeah, I guess we can always reconsider keeping fuzzy always on if we get too many of these and translators complain but probably fine for now
MonkeyPython
yea I mean I don't really understand but any thing that makes it say "restrictions" as a suggestion when the word is "descriptions" seems liek a real bad fit
yvanzo
I never saw you smoking, how can you stop doing something you never did? :)
MonkeyPython
perhance in the future the fuzzy matching will also be improved and more logical
perchance*
reosarevok
MonkeyPython: well, it's a very similar word, so it makes sense (we want it to match if you change from "Descriptions:" to "descriptions")
That's why it's fuzzy :D
MonkeyPython
hm
reosarevok
The question is whether it should always run. But in any case, don't worry, as yvanzo said, it won't be applied unless a translator says "yes, this looks good" :)
MonkeyPython
is ther ea like steps? so like do step 1,2 but not step 4
reosarevok
(it's just a helper)
MonkeyPython
yea
yvanzo
Does "LB" fuzzy matches "Last.fm"?
-es
MonkeyPython
step I mean.. levels? do you understand? like "Descriptions:" to "descriptions" must be step 1 but "descriptions" to "restrictions" must be level 3,4?
similarity levels
if there was such a setting
reosarevok
Often they only look at amount of changed letters
MonkeyPython
that's bad
reosarevok
It's also how most fuzzy searches work :)
MonkeyPython
that's (still) bad
reosarevok
So if you typo stuff, it'll still find it
MonkeyPython
hmm
maybe i expect that in 23 there is some logic to it
reosarevok
Otherwise all those people searching for musicbrains would never find us
finished deploying the LinkAttributeType patch & cleared the :all cache
that was a fun command to write: docker exec musicbrainz-production-cron sh -c 'sudo -E -H -u musicbrainz carton exec -- perl -Ilib -e '"'"'use MusicBrainz::Server::Context; my $c = MusicBrainz::Server::Context->create_script_context; $c->model("LinkAttributeType")->_delete_all_from_cache;'"'"
yvanzo
bitmap: not sure why you merged it to beta instead of master though?
bitmap: you should really have the function `sshc` in your `.bashrc` :)
bitmap
my bad, I merged beta into master
yvanzo
oh no
Well, ok :)
Oops, it’s a docker command, not an ssh command, but the same function can probably be done.
bitmap
the annoying part is all the nested quotes :0 can it help there?
double quotes would've been easier to escape but then I'd have to escape all the dollar signs in the Perl hehe
yvanzo
yes, it wouldn't help really
bitmap
re: oh no, is merging beta into master an issue now?
i understood you to mean yesterday that cornemuse can't be added because "there are too many"
yea
yvanzo
Cornemuse is already added as the French translation of bagpipe.
MonkeyPython
also the sourdeline/surduline,/sordolina with zampogna intertwining gives me a headace :D
yes
so is gaita (which are a range of iberian backpipes too)
yvanzo
But it is fine to add more specific types of bagpipe.
MonkeyPython
same with duas, dudy and other kornamuzo style aliases for other languages I haven't added to bagpipes yet because I want to add the corresponding specific bagpipe first so that if users search for it they will spsifically see both the isntrument and generally "bagpipes"
yes it is :D
hench why i'd love if someone could jsut create a "cornemuse" type ticket
Sophist-UK joined the channel
reosarevok
Yeah, the main issue in bagpipes is that often there's a word in the language which just means "bagpipe" in general, but it's also used to refer to the specific types of bagpipe from that country
MonkeyPython
exacamundo!
yvanzo
I was just saying there are too may for me to help with.
Yes, but there is no specific instrument called a cornemuse.
MonkeyPython
oh!!
hm
yvanzo
Even in French, it’s a generic term.
MonkeyPython
oh i see
(also i only meant for osmeon to create a ticket not to do al lthe work of that :))
yvanzo
It might have been a local term in the past, pure speculation from me.
the translation seems to suggest that cornemuse are bellows blown and musette are mouth blown (a distinction I haven't see anywhre else but I like the logic)
it says "https://saisaibatake.ame-zaiku.com/musical_instrument/gakki_jiten_cornemuse.html"
erh
i says "In the first place, the French Cornemuse is a term for Bagpipes, so it is a general term for the entire bug pipe."
so that seems the same thing you're saying
I wonder wich type this is an illustration of though
I love how the German term Sackpfeife (exact translation for bagpipe) also makes for a good insult because both "Sack" and "Pfeife" can be used as insults. The alternative term "Dudelsack" sounds much nicer :)
