aerozol: yes, how big would you like that image to be?
monkey: hi! are you around today?
pranavkonidena
jasje: Hi, could u please give me some UI issues to work on to get my feet wet a bit.. went thru the issue tracker but didn’t find any such issues.. shud I try working on smtg and will clear my doubts here as I go?
mayhem
moooin!
lucifer: not that you asked, but I am back home and plan to be around all week
lucifer
mayhem: oh awesome, we can finish up the backend parts of YIM then.
mayhem
sure. let me make some tweaks to the collage and get that going again, then I'm free.
lucifer
sounds good
monkey
Hi lucifer, still out today travelling but back at work tomorrow.

Descendents - Mayhem Goes to Collage
lucifer
monkey: ah cool, anything i can help out with on the frontend side of things meanwhile?
i can start working on the main page if its fine with you.
monkey
Not sure where we are at with remaining tasks, to be honest. What do you mean by main page?
In any case, feel free if you see anything that needs doing
lucifer
the YIM page that will show the stats, album art and playlists to the user
monkey
Ah, well that page is basically done now
lucifer
awesome
great thanks, i'll see if there's anything more to be done.
aerozol
lucifer: re. 2023 logo, can you set a % and a minimum size? I feel like with emails it's just basic html right 😞
lucifer
a minimum size should be possible yes
yes mostly basic html is supported but some of the new things are supported too but its all random so let me know what you have in mind and i can check
aerozol
I'm on my phone so I can't give you a px, but if you could set the min size at something not tiny but not wider than a phone that would 👌👌
yvanzo
monkey: Your list of proposition for OSS donations is still welcome. :)
monkey
Gah!
yvanzo
monkey: Also having some of the 4 BB ideas for GSoC 24 would be nice!
lucifer, mayhem: Having some of the 3 LB ideas for GSoC 24 would be nice.
akshaaatt: Having some of the 2 mobile app ideas for GSoC 24 would be nice.
zas: Having developed a bit the MB Picard idea for GSoC 24 would be nice.
yvanzo: i don't think we have any good ideas at the moment, first week of jan when we do a review of the roadmap and tie up the loose ends. should be able to get a better idea on what should go on it.
monkey
yvanzo: On the OSS sheet now, but I don't have edit access. CanI has please?
yvanzo
lucifer: I was referring to the ideas we wrote during the summit notes.
mayhem
lucifer: agreed.
yvanzo
Was it all bullshit?
lucifer
yvanzo: ah okay, i took a look at it just now. we have decided since then that all of these projects are better done by us ourselves.
because of how the other gsoc projects turned, no design ideas for LB at least next year.
yvanzo
The reason of it was to publish ideas early in time (Nov, Dec) so that we can communicate about it through blog post and channels.
mayhem
lets do that in january. dec is a really bad time to communicate anything at all.
lucifer
ah my bad, i was looking at the wrong list of ideas. i'll check again but yes ^
yvanzo
It should have been done in Nov really.
mayhem
why so soon? students are not looking in nov. I think getting things done in Jan is totally fine. because most students come 3 days before the deadline.
yvanzo
Those are not the best students though.
mayhem
the problem isn't on of timing, really. the problem as I recently leaned lies elsewhere.
namely, tech wages, especially for young workers is quickly on the rise in india. and the gsoc stipend is too low now.
yvanzo
Both issues have been discussed during the summit.
mayhem
most students will opt to take a paid internship over GSoC these days.
we hadn't reached the conclusion that we are unlikely to get good students. period.
I have now. of course one or two will be great, but most will not be.
yvanzo
Should we keep participating to GSoC if it is really that bad?
mayhem
yes, because of those 1-2 students who rock. what we need to do is become more critical of the students we accept. and also, as LB is doing, adjusting what is considered a viable project during gsoc.
yvanzo
Presenting some ideas earlier in time is focused on good students, whatever the not good ones.
mayhem
I'm not disagreeing with you.
I just think that january is a fine time.
yvanzo
Since when?
mayhem
since when what?
yvanzo
I have called repeatedly for getting some ideas ready.
mayhem
and I am sorry, I have other obligations that I need to take care of. and the LB world is quite in change right now.
I mean, if you want me to drop something, like landing a unicorn, in favor of pounding out some ideas that I dont believe in, I can do that.
just let me know
reosarevok
Can we just get the rest out, and say "ListenBrainz ideas will be coming after January as part of the new LB yearly plan"?
Maybe we'll get better proposals for other projects then :)
yvanzo
I didn’t say anything like that.
I made repeated reminders on the belief that we agreed on something since the summit, if I knew the position changed in the meantime I would have stopped wasting my time (and everyone's time during the meetings) with this.
mayhem
I appreciate your efforts, but the circumstance have changed. shall we discuss this during the meeting to collectively readjust our goals?
reosarevok
Having the ideas seems useful anyway, so not a waste of time :)
bitmap, yvanzo: There's some sort of hydration error on beta which does not let me submit new genres - maybe something about the changes for the external links? It's trying to load undefined and whatnot. IIRC that usually happened if we forgot to put something in webpack/client.config.mjs but I'm not sure what might be missing?
I guess it probably only broke genre because it's the only fully Reactified editor
For some reason, it works fine locally :/
bitmap: this might be because of some of your changes and even if it's not I think you're the one most likely to know what it might be, so please take a quick look when back - I'll wait with putting beta out in the meantime :)
yvanzo
mayhem, lucifer: We just did (discuss it) and nobody else seem to mind about it, so let’s move on and put it back until January when you have more time for it.
reosarevok: Yes, the time passed (or to be passed) on writing ideas is not wasted in any case.

reosarevok: You can use `test.mb.o` to try to reproduce and bisect this issue if it cannot be reproduced locally.
Looks like something you need to go to uni to understand, at least
petitminion has quit
yvanzo, bitmap: ok, now it works. Even with scripts. I wonder if something was just temporarily broken behind the scenes :/
I'll put prod out then

yvanzo: what was the limit to put a translation from beta into prod?
Percentage wise
yvanzo
Not sure
mthal has quit
reosarevok: Many languages seem to not have follow the recent changes though.
reosarevok
Sure, a few languages depend on one specific person for example so they'll need them to come back and update the strings
Such as Dutch
yvanzo
Yes, German too.
reosarevok
I was mostly wondering how much effort it would take to get Spanish to a point where it can be put out on prod as well :)
yvanzo
Those two languages lost about 20% of translations.
That’s huge, and some of these are for very common messages (menus…)

Yeah
And I don't speak either *at all* so I cannot reconfirm stuff
French or Italian I might have managed, but...
But well, I bet someone like kellnerd or outsidecontext will go confirm stuff soon ;p
Pushed prod, letting it run tests while I have lunch
I'll release after if they pass
kellnerd
I can find these changed strings with state:needs-editing, right?
