<03metadataismydrug> @YoMo12 Look at the MBID before you click the link, then look again when you click it and end up on MusicBrainz. ID changes. Look at the edit history you will see merges. The listen seems to have been mapped before a merge. I've seen this before with merged recordings. LB doesn't seem to update mappings after a merge?

mayhem: I agree with the blog you shared. Spotify doesn’t have the touch anymore. Just yesterday my yearly Spotify subscription got done and I couldn’t make the renewal payment on time and they automatically deleted all my downloaded songs. It was such a pain to get it to work again and have to download everything again. The UX was negative. Plus I think the app is useless for me regarding music discovery. I just use

search and stream my own music. Wrapped was also shitty last year from them

I feel the fact which set it apart initially was its amazing playlists and the ability to play awesome songs with just 2-3 songs and it kept recommending stuff

<03_flaky> I remember Glenn Mcdonald joined RYM to clarify Spotify's recommendations since the people there were clowning on Spotify for some of the weird "niche mixes", and tbf there were some weird ones (ASMR mix just gave me hyperpop...) but there were some amazing ones too (the anti-anxiety mix tended to hit on my account real well)

Tbh I really don’t understand Spotify’s design anymore. I really don’t care about that Home page. I used to at some point but now it is just weird

mayhem I think Spotify has been trying to get user retention on their platform somehow and introducing random things. They need to realise that people stream music on their platform and are more interested in discovery. Like, last year’s wrapped was some random videos coming and assigning me random similarity with artists.. I think the LB yim was far more superior to wrapped this year in terms of design, presentation and

I would be happy to spend more time on music streaming apps for discovery personally, but nothing more

the current sentiment is that "discovery doesn't pay". given that, remember that spotify has been owned by the labels for over a decade now, so they're fully profit driven and don't give a fuck about their end customers anymore.

so discovery? gotta go, only an expense.

and most of the wrapped team was laid off anyway, so I can't even imagine what's it going to be like next year. I would not be surprised if there won't be one.

Hi Schmias ! We don't have a separate database for test.listenbrainz.org, it's only a testing ground for our website front-end, but it's the same production database running behind it.
