Looks like you all had fun! Great job keeping the users updated on the socials, and big thanks to yvanzo for posting to bluesky and mastodon as well! Very nice!

Hey aerozol, does ListenBrainz support showing the granular stats (by year, by month, by day) that Last.fm does? It looks like the bars in the bar graphs are not clickable.
      • aerozol
Techman: You have these options, at the top of the stats page: https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/pT3CG...
      • If you have ideas for more, tickets are welcome! I’m not sure if there’s technical restrictions re. a daily total, though.
      • Techman
Oh. Hmm. Well, it is currently lacking the granularity that Last.fm has.
      • Yeah I can make a ticket to better show what I am talking about
      • aerozol
I really like last.fm’s Reports page! I think LB has a fair amount of catching up to do
      • Techman
I got distracted and did not make the ticket yet, but I was not quite talking about the reports tab. On the library page, there is a bar graph to the right that shows listens. When it is set to "All time" it goes by year. You can then click the bar to start getting more granular. https://www.last.fm/user/TheOnlyTechman/library
      • You basically have the same kind of graph if you visit https://listenbrainz.org/user/aerozol/stats/?ra... but the bars are not clickable to focus in.
      • yellowhatpro joined the channel
      • Not that I use that capability a lot, but it is really cool to go back in time and see what I was listening to during a particular day and time. I was talking to a buddy the other day about how I could probably correlate certain listening habits with life events.
      • aerozol
Techman: Definitely worth making a ticket! I have also had discussions re. how listening habits can correlate with things… a good LLM could make some pretty creepy (and probably pretty accurate) assumptions about what you’re up to, how you’re feeling, and your daily routine!

      • reosarevok

Ohh sorry, yeah. I forgot to reply sorry. I didn't fully follow - were you saying we can't block them? In this case it doesn't really matter imo. The whole 'quietly hide reviews without it pinging the user' seems pretty effective making exploiters think the jobs done, and moving on

zas: did you see the "Whitelist IP address" email from 12 days ago?
      • aerozol[m]: we can block them in MB, but that won't do anything for CB
      • It's confusing though that they can even leave reviews without a verified email address, maybe CB should block that
      • mayhem: did you see the Fair MusE email? That might be a better fit for you, especially since they want LB stuff too
      • aerozol[m]
Reosarevok: funny! Luckily it hasn't been a problem. I can make tickets to sort it, but is anyone going to work on CB tickets?
      • zas
reosarevok: yes, it was handled, he contacted me via IRC too. https://github.com/metabrainz/metabrainz-ansibl...

      • aerozol[m]

yvanzo: do I understand correctly that https://github.com/metabrainz/musicbrainz-docke... is just getting rid of the old script and changing it for the new?
      • Don't we usually keep both versions? Not probably a big deal though
      • yvanzo
Anyone with a PG 9.5 database (so more than four years old) is rather invited to reinstall from scratch.
      • reosarevok
Yeah, I guess that makes sense
      • Was just thinking we keep all the old update scripts in MBS
      • But I doubt anyone ever actively uses them
      • yvanzo
I cannot imagine the time it would take just for loading 4 years of replication packets.
      • The old update scripts in MBS can be useful to replay replication packets if needed.
      • reosarevok
        Ok :)
      • yvanzo
This script is not documenting anything about our database schema, it just upgrades the Postgres version.
      • Thanks, good question :)
      • lucifer, ansh: Can we stop these containers on wolf for upgrading the MB mirror? https://www.irccloud.com/pastebin/ogUjjF9E/
      • lucifer
        Yvanzo: yes
      • yvanzo
I did but it wasn’t enough, restarting Docker as well.
      • reosarevok
So you're testing updating the mirror now?
      • Anything you need help with? :)
      • yvanzo
        Yes, patience! :D
      • This is the second mirror I’m upgrading as there were many issues to fix in the process for the first mirror.
      • So it should go smoothly this time.
      • Also, I successfully imported the full data dump into a fresh instance.
      • reosarevok
        Sweet
      • Have we migrated test?
      • yvanzo
        No idea.
      • reosarevok
I am going to assume not
      • Since it wasn't in the list AFAICT
      • But I guess the DB needs updating to v16 first anyway

Hello everyone ! I have hard time building the server image from musicbrainz-server and I'm confused, anyone here to help ?
      • mayhem
hi MatthieuPlex. Yes, yvanzo and reosarevok should be able to help you. what is your question?
      • yvanzo
        MatthieuPlex: Using musicbrainz-docker?
      • MatthieuPlex
        yes
      • I tried with multiple tags
      • but same issue on master

[musicbrainz-docker] 14yvanzo opened pull request #279 (03schema-change-2024-q2…prebuild-images): MBVM-42: Prebuild images for the services db and musicbrainz https://github.com/metabrainz/musicbrainz-docke...

      • ohh pre-built image would definitely help ^^
      • yvanzo
        MatthieuPlex: Which version of musicbrainz-server?
      • MatthieuPlex
I think master is pulling v-2024-04-09
      • yvanzo
MatthieuPlex: Yes, there was an issue with Yarn that has been fixed in master, and in the yesterday’s release, but not in any PG12/MBDB28 release.
      • (yesterday’s release isn’t actually released yet though)
      • mayhem
        sneaky.
      • MatthieuPlex
ok so I just have to wait for the new release with the new db schema ?
      • yvanzo
MatthieuPlex: You can replace `v-2024-04-09` with `pg12-last` in the Dockerfile.
      • The new PG16/MBDB29 release is upcoming, just a few more minutes/hours at most.
