mayhem: I suspect it's not always entertaining? 🫠
mayhem
Mostly not entertaining at all.
atj
infuriating, bewildering, depressing
although it's quite enjoyable when mayhem returns fire
mayhem
:D
I just realized that I have found my first use for AI. Explaining shit to people who need it. e.g. why are facts not copyrightable. I think I will have chatgpt write up a pile of backgrounders that I can send to people.

I'd suggest opening a chatbot assistant and pointing advertisers to it too, but maybe it'd promise them money :p
Of course, it could be an "AI" chatbot which just always cycles between five sentences like "We're not interested, sorry" and "We do not do ads" and if they keep insisting is programmed to get more rude :p
atj
a chatbot version of the IVR loop, i like it

If I’m allowed to pretend to be an gradually-more-unhinged AI answer-bot I could be keen to be added
Though a chatGPT bot that’s only been fed the most caustic of mayhem’s replies is probably the way to go!
mayhem doesn't need any more encouragement.

Hey yvanzo is the site for the GSoC introduction poll is showing the times in my time zones.. coz on clicking on any of them, I am not being redirected to any other site with the timing for eg https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtim...
Hi pranav[m], I don’t think that the poll is supporting timezones, the proposed times are in UTC: 1pm UTC, 2pm UTC, 3pm UTC.

Don't worry! Nothing's broken!

That’s good to know too!

:) I was wondering whether the solr release had been finalised? yvanzo, I'm current running against the solr-9.5.0 branch of mb-solr, which is fine, but I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything?
yvanzo
Not yet because we need some more load testing in production with atj, and testing dumps as well.
atj
MatthewGlubb: hopefully not too much longer
MatthewGlubb
kk. thanks, yvanzo. I'll back off.
yvanzo
We might actually do the Solr 9.6 upgrade in the meantime, and some upgrades for SIR too.
atj
Solr 9.6 upgrade is done :)
yvanzo
:+3:
👍 👍 👍
atj
i changed 2 variables and then ran one ansible command and deployed it on all servers
(after reviewing the release notes)
MatthewGlubb
9.6 works for me. The only issue I really ever have is knowing what version of sir to run against what version of mb-solr, if it matters.
yvanzo
It doesn’t.
atj
MatthewGlubb: new releases of the relevant components will be made beforehand
i've tweaked some parts of mbssss
MatthewGlubb
Great. Thank you!
atj
yvanzo: i meant to ask, does prod Sir authenticate?
yvanzo
atj: I’ve also seen that we could upgrade some dependencies to Lucene 9.10.

hi. while reading from edit_data, I am facing a problem. While running the query `SELECT * FROM edit_data where edi t > 48470658 limit 10;` the data which returns starts from edit 48588097, and it wouldn't come sequentially, like 48588098 after 48588097. I tried simple select query, which does not give desired response (sequential results). I also tried making cursor for this purpose, which ends with same problem:
I hope I am allowed to post this here, if not, feel free to delete.
Hey guys, over the last year I developed an Android app to plan your festival season. This app is heavily based on MusicBrainz and I am happy to invite you all to test the open beta, which is live right now :)
