LB team: I can’t find a ticket for the new last.fm importer? I assume there isn’t one?
      • I will leave this feedback from a user, via Mastodon here. Let me know if there is a better place for it:
      • “@metabrainz Thanks a lot! I finally decided to disconnect from lfm, wipe out the data and connect again, disabling dual scrobbling. Now I have the same amount of listens on both services, which a few months ago sounded like a miracle to me.
      • The only caveat is that asynchronous listens (listens sent afterwards by a client that was registering them offline) don’t seem to sync well. I had to disconnect and connect again to make LB fetch those, which in turn could create new dupes. So…”

      • Hey mayhem and monkey , these are my rough drafts for the LB homepage update, based on the notes at the summit. My plan is to create some beautiful (hopefully!) icons for the homepage. Clicking on them will take you to a new bottom section of the vertical scroll, which is more information heavy. Users who keep scrolling will also eventually see that information.
      • Probably the main benefit of this approach is that it is pretty simple. We can change or add new icons to the homepage any time, as they don’t take up too much space (for instance, if we want to add another icon for “AI ready”, etc). The information layout at the bottom will also be simple to populate, and will easily adjust for mobile. Other options (e.g. nicely formatting everything into the landing page) will be less
      • flexible/more time consuming to update

      • (remember to imagine NICE icons ;)
      • Those icons jump to

      • I spent a bit of time populating the text, hopefully making it easy for you to adjust to your liking mayhem
      • Note that the bigger icons are more complex versions of the icons that are on the landing page/at the top. Feedback on the icons chosen is welcome, making nice icons will probably be the biggest part of the job (on my end), so let’s get them right
      • Mobile is pretty obvious for that bottom section, I think, but here it is

Aerozol (@_discord_537897767968833566:chatbrainz.org) are there supposed to be images? because they didn't make it to Discord, at least...
      • aerozol[m]1
I have not yet figured out how to get the icons from the top nicely into mobile, but it is only a few swipes to get to the bottom, so I am thinking of hiding them there. Alternatively, having one iconsthat animates/swaps between the three
      • UltimateRiff: uff… will upload on Discord as well...
      • Which brings me to my final note for monkey and mayhem - let me know if you want me to put all of this in a ticket or a doc. Otherwise I am happy to sieve through the feedback on here

      • Now the images are on Matrix twice, hurray :D Must be dinner time...
      • I should add that I think there doesn’t have to be that much text mayhem , but I included a few different “angles”. Feel free to cut it down (or not)

Hey ansh! btw I just opened LB on my phone while logged out/in a private session (to work on the homepage updates) and it looks like BrainzPlayer still hides the login button on the homepage? I thought you had fixed that but maybe not? Let me know if I can help with something
      • Forgot to ping sorry ansh ^

Aerozol: you may want to allow brainzbot to put pictures in this channel, since they are turned off by default
      • Or allow anyone to post pictures. It can be useful
      • Aerozol[m]
I'm sure it used to work, before Matrix changed how they handled images? But I see you're right and sharing files was disabled, which I didn't expect tbh. I've changed it now, let's see
      • Actually brainzbot already had all permissions, so I don't know if it well help. But at least discord users can add pictures now

rustynova: afaik it's to do with Matrix authenticating media. Whether a bridge can get around that is out of my area of expertise - https://matrix.org/blog/2024/06/26/sunsetting-u...

<sanojjonas[m]> "is there a way of using the..." <- Not really. That's not something that would usually be done by search, but by browse requests, but we don't support that at the moment either for this kind of stuff (see MBS-7546)
      • BrainzBot
MBS-7546: Allow /ws/2 browse requests via advanced relations (e.g. browse recordings by work, browse release-groups by series) https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/MBS-7546
      • reosarevok[m]
Although I guess we do allow event by artist in search but not browse, which is another of those weird inconsistencies

monkey: ping, I have some questions about the missing tracklists bug
      • https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/LB-1455 makes it seem like its a transient problem. is that the same as you're seeing?

      • @ansh ping. are you working on wolf? there is a node process stuck at 100%.
      • wow. it has an astronomically large execution time. I'm guessing it a stuck process.

        mayhem: pong
      • mayhem[m]
I'm looking at the tracklists issue -- I didn't realize its a transient issue.
      • is that the case for you as well?
      • monkey[m]
        I see it consistently
      • In particular in the fresh releases page, usually new albums (that are out and have a tracklist on MB) don't show any tracklist on LB
      • mayhem[m]
consistently with the same data and the problem never goes away?
      • monkey[m]
      • mayhem[m]
        MBR, lol.
      • monkey[m]
I think the issue probably resolves itself after a long time. Some users were reporting waiting a month with no change
      • mayhem[m]
        how odd.
      • but, ok, I'll dig
      • monkey[m]
Currently on prod, I'm getting 404s instead, and that's new
      • All fresh releases I tried until that MBR one were 404s
      • mayhem[m]
        ok, thanks for clarifying.
      • the replica on wolf is a few months behind. less than ideal.

        yvanzo: you about?

      • mayhem[m]
the mb replica on wolf is behind.
      • remind me, what is the way to catch it up?
      • Stuck on aug data.
      • yvanzo[m]
I just started loading replication changes.
      • But we can stop it and load a new dump if you prefer, should be faster.
      • mayhem[m]
thanks. can you please add that back to cron?
      • how long would a new import take?
      • yvanzo[m]
        Dunno, a few hours.
      • mayhem[m]
k, I'll just wait for the replication to catch up.
