i'm trying to find a source/index for mbid -> spotify uri. so far i've found only this old archived indexer https://github.com/metabrainz/mbspotify. Is there any other work i could piggy back off for this?
yvanzo, bitmap: seems there's nothing in beta at the moment so even though we haven't released prod in a while there's probably not much reason to do so... I will make a beta release today and we can release prod next week

reosarevok: Thanks. Are you available for search dev on Thursday?
Oh, if you mean during the day and not in the evening then even more so - let's do that. I'll try to not sleep in 😅

tee heee. a good friend of mine works for a spanish company. they were supposed to have been paid friday. no dice. not today. so, now for lunch they are scrounging all alcohol in the office and started day drinking. #respect
reosarevok[m]
Wait, people work for Spanish companies rather than just being on their payroll? :p
Things have changed!
mayhem[m]
<reosarevok[m]> "Wait, people work for Spanish..." <- not today, anyways, lol.
<yvanzo[m]> "bitmap: Hi. Are you available..." <- hello, I'm available on wednesday, do you have a preferred meeting time?
yvanzo[m]
bitmap: 3pm CET?
reosarevok[m]
Beta done
bitmap[m]
yvanzo[m]: sounds good to me
<reosarevok[m]> "Updating beta" <- one of the tickets also required updating the beta mb-mail-service first (we should update our deployment scripts to do that)
reosarevok[m]
Oh, crap
How do I do that?
Because I didn't do it first :)
(but hopefully nobody rushes to send mails yet :p)
bitmap[m]
there is a mb-mail-service-beta container on both selda and yamaoka, just remove one and do ./scripts/update_services.sh, then the next
reosarevok[m]
Ok
Can you make a ticket for the automatic deployment?
bitmap[m]
sure
yvanzo[m]
bitmap: I can downgrade beta.mb.o if needed meantime
bitmap[m]
yvanzo: thanks, I think it should be fine, restarting the containers should be fast
I guess I should go mail someone and see if it works? :p
bitmap: it looks like MBS-13847 might just involve adding the service to the `SERVICES="musicbrainz-webservice musicbrainz-website"` line in `update_containers.sh`?
Actually, the MBS containers should probably rely on version of the mail service, rather than on a deployment environment.
bitmap[m]
we should at least be specifying image tags in the start_mb_mail_service calls, though having separate deployment environments does simplify things a bit since we don't have to update DBDefs.pm each release
yvanzo[m]
Then the matching version could be set in the image instead.
bitmap[m]
like as an environment variable that we read in DBDefs?

That should work.

<lucifer[m]> "mayhem: https://docs.sentry.io/..."; <- The cron job monitoring sounds like a good way to solve some of the issues we were talking about, and using Sentry which we already have in place is a plus 👍️
mayhem[m]
agreed.

<yvanzo[m]> "That should work." <- yeah, I'l think we'll just want our MB deployment script to abort if there's no container running for that version

<aerozol[m]> "I just spotted the “why are some..." <- Thanks for the feedback aerozol ! I'll look at making those links visible only if not on your own page and you don't have a flair set () and are logged in).

animated names? what's this about?
mayhem[m]
kepstinbrainz: user "flair". highlight LB users who have donated.
kepstinbrainz
eh, "flair" of some sort is ok, but please don't do animation (or at least have it off by default) :/
mayhem[m]
we were pondering that option. but only if you donate. 😈
kepstinbrainz
I'd strongly prefer off by default, but you definitely need to have a setting to disable it which is accessible to not-logged-in users, and it also needs to respect the prefers-reduced-motion css media feature.

Respecting prefers-reduced-motion is on the list, but no 'disable all' setting

For the meeting I'm blup and making dinner, I've got no updates anyway, sorry, was kidna busy procrastinating on a lot of not mb things
kepstinbrainz
fwiw, i don't generally use the reduced motion option because sites that use motion well - animations in response to user actions to indicate change of state - don't cause any issues for me. I just don't want any distracting movement or animation for no reason.
(same reason i block autoplaying video and turn off animated gif playback in chat clients and social media)

So last week
I looked into reducing code duplicacy on some common items
Which increased the quality of low effort dupes to match the apps standard
