lucifer: forwarded you an LB email, do we have documentation I can bookmark and share in these cases about when people start getting recommendations?

reosarevok[m]
Maybe LB should have a FAQ at least? (if it does I haven't found it)

rdswift[m] I believe I am, yes. Perhaps I could just remember the URL of the coverart applied to the audio file, and only download the image if this has changed?

The artist shows up correctly in my local MB web via:

monkey: would you be keen to meet some time my tomorrow morning, or your tomorrow morning? I'm keen to bounce the MB homepage feedback off another designer before I do the V2 (probably final) mockup for ansh. I'm heading to bed now but I'll be up early to see your reply

Definitely up for it after I come back (Aug 10th), or we can do back and forth on a document although that's not as nice

[metabrainz.org] 14fettuccinae opened pull request #523 (03metabrainz-notifications…bug-fix): Fix server error bug when all notifications are marked as important. https://github.com/metabrainz/metabrainz.org/pull…
adhawkins (IRC): That might work, but I'm not sure if new URLs are created when cover art is changed, or if they still remain as https://coverartarchive/release/{release id}.{image extension} or https://coverartarchive.org/release-group/release group id}/front and there is a redirection on the CAA site. I suspect a redirection, but bitmap would have a much better idea than I of how that all works.

Thanks rdswift[m], would be useful to know. Interestingly, today's run seemed a lot quicker for some reason!

Caching perhaps, or maybe just less traffic.

adhawkins (IRC): rdswift: if you request /front, there will be a redirection to the specific image ID, which can change. but if I understood your use case correctly, you could also fetch the index.json file first (coverartarchive.org/release/$mbid) and store/check the id of the front image to see if it changed before fetching any image file
2025-07-31 21217, 2025
adhawkins
bitmap[m]: I'm currently requesting '/front' based on the release ID, so unless I knew what URL that redirected to, that wouldn't appear like a URL change. I'll investigate checking the IDs in the index.json to see if that's a better way to do it. Thanks.

What am I missing here? I reindexed artists, but trying to search for an exact match is failing. Why am I returning 29 matches, and none are the MBID I'm actually searching for?... (full message at <https://matrix.chatbrainz.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/chatbrainz.org/wxJWxrtARBrcLrnlJKLUWNhl>)

I also notice that in the artist schema, that none of the fields are set as a uniqueKey; is this intentional?

devianteng: try using the advanced endpoint (/solr/artist_shard1_replica_n1/advanced). also note that artist, sortname, type are not stored fields so those won't be returned. most info is stored in the _store field as xml

Is the 403 -> Takedown -> Nice Message automatic now or are we going to have to flag new stuff inbound? The changes you made look good (well not good, the @$$H@+$ should have not trolled that since it's feeding their sales lol) for our side. Let me know if further action is needed or monitoring will be necessary.

How close of a relationship do we have with archive.org? Might they be willing to do a daily dump of bad URL calls for musicbrainz related stuff? I could import, parse and notify/log if that's an option.

1badpixel: I sent them an email about it, so we'll see. at the moment nothing is automatic. it actually wouldn't be too difficult for us to detect when something is made undark, it's just the other direction we'd need a list for

Okay, ping me if there's anything I can do - Regexes/webservers and stuff like that are in my wheelhouse.
well, they confirmed metamgr.php is deprecated and sent me a csv of all the current darkened items, but didn't answer about getting updates, so I assume it's just not going to be possible anymore
