the same thing has happened for some tracks in my navidrome instance as well. the common element is picard, but that can't be can it?

      • outsidecontext[m
good question. I know I tested gonic with troi playlists. but I think that only required the recording IDs. Apart from that I remember gonic to be a bit strange. There are a few endpoints that depend on data queried from last.fm, and not being sourced from the files. Maybe that's such a case.

Navidrome should be fine, though. Is it also the artist MBID for Navidrome, or also about other MBIDs?
      • 2025-08-04 21659, 2025

      • mayhem[m]
gah. the subsonic scan is super slow already, having to making even more queries suuuuucks.

this is the report I filed with navidrome, but it wasn't confirmed.

      • outsidecontext[m
The problem with the artist MBIDs is, that you can't always properly get the MBID for an artist from tags. And since Navidrome's new DB format also considers all involved artists, it is even more complicated.
      • 2025-08-04 21654, 2025

      • mayhem[m]
ok, then I need to add a new step to fetch them from MB itself.

See also deluan's answer on the issue I reported at https://github.com/navidrome/navidrome/issues/396…

To solve this with file tags we actually would need to have some proper mapping between MBIDs and artist names in some structured way inside the files.

      • mayhem[m]
like full artist credit support then?
      • 2025-08-04 21601, 2025

      • outsidecontext[m
Yes. Right now you have e.g. albumartist and artist tags. Which in addition are usually single value, because of how players work. With Picard you also would have an "artists" custom tag, which is just a list of names. But you also might have additional artist names inside performer tags (TIPL and such). And then you have a list of artist or albumartist MBIDs. But not for any of the additional performers.

      • outsidecontext[m
Good luck mapping the MBIDs to the proper artist. "artists" and the artist MBIDs should by default fit (same number of entries, same order). But that's it.
      • 2025-08-04 21610, 2025

      • mayhem[m]
I won't map. I'll just work with artist credits.
      • 2025-08-04 21651, 2025

      • mayhem[m]
fetch only the recording_mbid , then fetch the rest of the data from MB and stored it int the DB
      • 2025-08-04 21648, 2025

      • outsidecontext[m
Maybe we should do what deluan suggested and introduce a custom tag with an actual mapping in some proper format (JSON or such). But until then some additional lookup will be needed I guess.
