reosarevok: we did (talk), but I still wonder what's happening exactly, I think they have mostly issues with cover art, and most of the time that's not a problem on our side but rather on IA side. But I failed to obtain technical details in various exchanges we had, that doesn't help...
2025-10-29 30238, 2025
zas[m]
They had issues (their customers) in the past, because of availability issues on our side though, so I guess there are 2 parts.

hey monkey i just got my setup for bookbrainz but when i am trying to login it is redirecting me to musicbrainz and the asking again and again about username and password even if it is correct whats the matter should i use the test version without login?
2025-10-29 30218, 2025
monkey[m]
Hm, I don't think I've seen this type of login prompt before, it should redirect you to a MusicBrainz login page with proper styling and everything instead of this browser input
2025-10-29 30206, 2025
monkey[m]
Just to check: you followed the steps to create a developer application on MB?
2025-10-29 30220, 2025
monkey[m]
I do see a clientID, so supposing yes
2025-10-29 30248, 2025
rayyan_seliya[m]
it first take to the musicbrainz official login page and after filling the user and psswd it redirects again to this popup even i have tried my http://localhost:9099/cb but there is same functionality !!
2025-10-29 30215, 2025
rayyan_seliya[m]
yes i have filled the clientid and client secret properly in the config

I'll try locally as well, but haven't seen that before so not sure where to point you to for resolving it...

ooh would love to know from ur side too if any help ... i have tried in different browser tooin private tab but same behaviour shoud i try changing the passwd of mb and then try again ?

STYLE-758: New column for BPM (beats per minute) for recordings
2025-10-29 30244, 2025

if MB, then we're writing new perl code, which is not a great idea. but I think LB is actually not a bad place for it, given discovery and such
2025-10-29 30212, 2025
mayhem[m]
any strong feelings on this?
2025-10-29 30215, 2025
reosarevok[m]
We write new Perl code every day :)
2025-10-29 30228, 2025
reosarevok[m]
I mean, I don't care where it's sent from, but it should probably live in the MB DB
2025-10-29 30254, 2025
reosarevok[m]
If it's mostly edited from LB somehow, that's fine for me
2025-10-29 30202, 2025
reosarevok[m]
More importantly, how are you planning to do it at all?
2025-10-29 30227, 2025
reosarevok[m]
Because the current way it'd be done in MB would be with edits, but that assumes there is one correct value
2025-10-29 30228, 2025
monkey[m]
rayyan_seliya[m]: That worked as well, so it's also not an issue with newer vs. older oauth applications.
2025-10-29 30228, 2025
monkey[m]
Did you select "Web application" as the application type when creating it?
2025-10-29 30234, 2025
mayhem[m]
the idea is that the client will be Mixxx, at least initially.
2025-10-29 30246, 2025
reosarevok[m]
I dunno if there is one correct value
2025-10-29 30251, 2025
mayhem[m]
and it wont have peer review, since... how do you do that.

I mean, if someone submits value X and someone thinks it's value Y, how does that work?
2025-10-29 30234, 2025
reosarevok[m]
(or X; Y; Z vs A; B; C anyway)
2025-10-29 30235, 2025
mayhem[m]
the concept we're working with is that people submit the markups, and the more markups we have, the higher the confidence.
2025-10-29 30257, 2025
reosarevok[m]
So, effectively voting
2025-10-29 30219, 2025
mayhem[m]
implicit voting, yes.
2025-10-29 30201, 2025
mayhem[m]
so, we need several new API endpoints and a more complicated data structure than just a BPM value.
2025-10-29 30209, 2025
rayyan_seliya[m]
monkey[m]: > <@monkey:chatbrainz.org> That worked as well, so it's also not an issue with newer vs. older oauth applications.

> Did you select "Web application" as the application type when creating it?
2025-10-29 30209, 2025
rayyan_seliya[m]
I am not able to recall it .. but yeah I guess that's the issue .. will try nakkng new developer application..
2025-10-29 30223, 2025
reosarevok[m]
I mean, it's also fine to implement it entirely in LB with voting, but MB is likely to still eventually get an editable BPM field (but the source for that was expected to mostly be releases and stores which provide BPM)
2025-10-29 30228, 2025
mayhem[m]
I think in the end we can copy a high confidence BPM value to the MB data, but until then, its a mess of data.
2025-10-29 30254, 2025
reosarevok[m]
Yeah, maybe eventually then MB could be "if there's a confidence > 90% in the mixxx system, we can use that"
2025-10-29 30257, 2025
reosarevok[m]
Or whatever
2025-10-29 30213, 2025
mayhem[m]
I'm really leaning towards doing it in LB, TBH.
2025-10-29 30220, 2025
rayyan_seliya[m] uploaded an image: (47KiB) < https://matrix.chatbrainz.org/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/EyhjymKlCmnJISmMAPuaZwAI/image.png >
2025-10-29 30236, 2025
reosarevok[m]
I mean, yes, if it's not going to use the existing MB structure and edits, then LB seems best, because we have no good way to do it
2025-10-29 30238, 2025
rayyan_seliya[m]
i created on this page where previously i created for listenbrainz monkey
2025-10-29 30218, 2025
monkey[m]
mayhem[m]: I will say as a counterpoint (although you didn't ask me) that it goes against the usual flow of data we have, usually compiled from MB data for LB, and not the other way around.
2025-10-29 30220, 2025
reosarevok[m]
It will be confusing eventually if (when... I hope) MB implements recording attributes inc bpm but we just need some clear guidelines on how to use it I guess

mayhem: I looked at the CAA cache service and it mostly makes sense, but I couldn't really follow what happens if two processes try to download/cache the same file concurrently. it looks like it also rebuilds the entire cache at startup, which might not be good if you have multiple processes/containers using the cache and need to restart one of them?
