Maybe we can make a progress to our iOS app! I’ve moved to an iPhone and I NEED the MusicBrainz app
I could look into it
skelly37
rdswift: I've made in-code documentation but yeah. I might add the new flag and describe changes before the release for the users.
akshaaatt
Other than that I reviewed yellowhatpro ‘s PR today. Excited about the upcoming work!
That’s about it for me. Go reosarevok !
reosarevok
Hi!
Freso
(Only CatQuest and myself (Freso) left for reviews. Final call for anyone else who wish to give one!)
reosarevok
I mostly rested, but put out a new server release and worked on getting genre stuff hopefully ready for release soon
This week I'll probably try to do some more of that while I try not to melt
CatQuest: you? :)
CatQuest
Meow! `😺`
Hi, still on vacation, it's raining here but it's hot and humid
anyway I've been around and about, will test stuff for Shubh and monkey
I'm watching Good Omens and eating good food ♊
fin, go Freso !
Freso
🙋
aerozol singing genre stuuuuff
alastairp
CatQuest: I was just thinking about Good Omens today
Freso
I’ve been sleeping a lot this past week. The heat is making it hard to wake up in the morning and hard to go to sleep in the evening. :x Managed to poke a bit at some flags etc., but not much else.
And Friday was midsummer.
aerozol
Hopefully a good sleep at least!!
Freso
I’ll be having surgery Wednesday morning, so I won’t be around Wednesday. I think I will be fine for Thurs and Fri, but we’ll see.
fin.
Which concludes our reviews. :)
Thank you all who gave a review!
aerozol
All the best for surgery Freso :o
CatQuest
yes
Freso
And we have no more items on the agenda, so this also concludes the meeting.
skelly37
Yup, hope everything goes fine, Freso!
Freso
Thank you all for your time! Stay safe, stay hydrated, stay cool, and stay masked! 😷
</BANG>
monkey
Best wishes Freso !
Pratha-Fish
Freso: All the best ❤️
yvanzo
Thanks!
CatQuest
gambatte freso!
aerozol
I haven't been *involved* but hanging about and it's so cool to see all the projects buzzing along everyone. Amazing work
Pratha-Fish
CatQuest: you too speak japanese?
CatQuest
Pratha-Fish: iie
alastairp: thinknig aobut Good Omens is alwasy good
Pratha-Fish
A fellow anime fan I see
CatQuest
hai
aerozol
I just had a memory surface just now about a reaaally weird cat anime I watched years ago
Googled, no not that one! But that looks interesting
Ooh book reviews. Can you review anything other than edition groups?
alastairp
I wonder if we should have an icon somewhere on the page to indicate that we're talking about a book-related thing or a music-related thing
aerozol: it's coming! (ansh's summer of code project)
monkey
Nice ansh !
ansh
Yes we can have one
aerozol
If not can we change 'edition group' to something more understandable for laypeople
🎉
Pratha-Fish
alastairp: Hey BTW sorry I couldn't finish the API mapping thing today
Accidentally went to sleep and woke up just before the meeting lol
Hopefully it'll be done by tomorrow :)
aerozol
Oh found it, the anime is 'cat soup'
ansh
Also I just realised, I forgot to add the icons for external links in the DB PR.
CatQuest
aerozol: :O
Pratha-Fish
aerozol: wow the animation style looks interesting
CatQuest
i'm into weird cat animes!
aerozol
I can't remember what happens but a mild sense of unease is attached to this memory so maybe watch with caution haha
CatQuest
idk, they ieat cats?
alastairp
Pratha-Fish: no worries. remember that looking up MBIDs in the mapping is almost half of the entire project anyway, so... spend a few days on getting the lookup tested and optimised and then we can leave it running over the weekend to get enough data for the next series of tests
aerozol: yeah, good point. we have this with some other musicbrainz review types in CB too
skelly37
rdswift: Since you seem to be the main docs maintainer: I've been going through the docs but I don't see anything else that has been changed by my PR, except for the appendix with the command-line flags. Am I wrong?
alastairp
maybe we could separate the "internal" entity name and the visible name
ansh
alastairp: You mentioned about cover art. BookBrainz does not have images yet.
alastairp
ansh: yes, I know. I was going to put a ":(" after my comment
Pratha-Fish
alastairp: Wow didn't expect it to get resolved so fast!
very excited about what's coming up next :D
ansh
Oh! my bad
aerozol
alastairp: I see 'book' is displayed on the right, maybe that could be pulled over to where it says 'edition group'
So it will say the type
alastairp
Pratha-Fish: remember that 1000 is easy to look up, 300k will take a time but is doable
but what are we going to do when we want to do 27b?
aerozol
I'm any case, exciting! I'm just poking at it
alastairp
aerozol: that's why I suggested that maybe we could have some kind of icon or other indicator that says it's a music or book thing
maybe next to the title on the top left?
ansh
'Book' here is the edition group type. But ya we can put something for it.
rdswift
skelly37, that's likely it. We might want to add a general comment somewhere about it using a single instance by default. I'm not sure where, so I'll have to see if there is a good spot to include that.
alastairp
yes, I think that improving terminology will be important here
aerozol
Yeah, so it would say 'rate this book' or 'rate this magazine' (I forget the types..)
alastairp
aerozol: of course, also happy for any design feedback on CB in general :)
aerozol
Ooh will see if I catch a minute on Friday
skelly37
rdswift: I'll open a draft PR then and add the flag. If you find anything else, you'll be able to put it there. When the Picard is released, I'll remove the draft mark.
rdswift
Sounds good. You can also mark it as "Do not merge" with a 3.0 milestone if you didn't want to keep it as DRAFT.
Pratha-Fish
alastairp: Yes, currently even the data loading procedure is taking 13s to load 3.6M rows!
(That reminds me I am also working on a custom vectorized csv/tsv parser on the side to speed it up a little)
KevlarNoir joined the channel
alastairp
Pratha-Fish: is this loading directly with pandas? it could be worth seeing if it's faster to load manually and then turn into a dataframe - but this also comes back to our previous discussions about if pandas is the correct tool to use for the large-scale analysis
zas
alastairp: perl process 2391766 on aretha is eating a lot of memory
expected?
swap is filling
alastairp
zas: I believe this is json dumps (it's coincidince that it runs with my uid)
(musicbrainz)
Pratha-Fish
alastairp: Nah, it doesnt load into pandas, but simple Python dicts. I am looking forward to converting it into numpy 2d arrays tho
That's probably the fastest method out there
yvanzo
zas, alastairp: looking into it
zas
yvanzo: ok, thanks
alastairp
Pratha-Fish: let's have a look at this later this week, perhaps we can find some optimisation techniques
Pratha-Fish
sure :)
yvanzo
bitmap, reosarevok: I disabled hourly jobs in json-dump’s crontab.
These jobs are misbehaving since Wed 22th.

[bookbrainz-site] 14MonkeyDo merged pull request #847 (03new-creation-form…uf-routes): Feat(uf-route): POST endpoint for submitting multiple entities https://github.com/metabrainz/bookbrainz-site/p...
skelly37 has quit
yvanzo
bitmap, reosarevok: The only wrong thing in logs is that “No more linked entities found for sequence ID” (in core entity tables) has a lot more occurrences: usually thousands, now hundreds of thousands.
reosarevok
yvanzo: just remembered, you had most of the AC gid implementation ready, right? What was missing?
I have seen some linkedEntities errors in sentry too, but quite few iirc
yvanzo
zas, bitmap, reosarevok: The job is completed, and no more such hourly job will run from this container.
reosarevok: Dunno, have made the diagrams stuff since.
yvanzo, bitmap: I'll release beta tomorrow, if either of you have time to review something else (or maybe bitmap can fix whatever the JSON dump issue is) that'd be great, if not at least we can have genre URLs :)
[bookbrainz-site] 14dependabot[bot] opened pull request #853 (03master…dependabot/npm_and_yarn/eslint-plugin-import-2.26.0): chore(deps-dev): bump eslint-plugin-import from 2.25.3 to 2.26.0 https://github.com/metabrainz/bookbrainz-site/p...
yvanzo
reosarevok: The other genre-related PRs still have to be rebased.
