The number of listens is missing in the bottom right corner of the blue-purple text-based one. It just says "artists"; I think it might be more useful to show the total number of listens perhaps
2022-10-24 29706, 2022
monkey
Same for this new green background one
2022-10-24 29743, 2022

yeah, we don;t have that data in this context and it would be a total pain to calculate it.
2022-10-24 29750, 2022
monkey
Right
2022-10-24 29732, 2022
monkey
I guess we do have `total_artist_count` we can show however
2022-10-24 29735, 2022
monkey
As before
2022-10-24 29737, 2022

but this is a release list, so I have release_count, which is what I will plunk there.
(I spent unnecessary amounts of time on this one lmao)

Pratha-Fish
alastairp: I think now might be a good idea to publish the blog and submit the link on my GSoC page
2022-10-24 29743, 2022
alastairp
Pratha-Fish: it's certainly very ... abstract 😆
2022-10-24 29718, 2022
alastairp
again, up to you. you can go with that, the original one, or nothing
2022-10-24 29721, 2022
alastairp
regarding publishing the post - note that it doesn't have to be live for you to submit your evaluation. As I evaluate your work I'll get a question "Is this the correct URL?", which I'm able to answer because I can see the draft and I've seen your initial work in the google doc
2022-10-24 29750, 2022
alastairp
so feel free to go ahead and submit your review with that url I gave you, hopefully Freso can try and invite you again later today to see if it works now
2022-10-24 29712, 2022
Pratha-Fish
alastairp: I think the published blog is also going to be visible on GSOC's official page, which is why they've explicitly asked to keep the link openable this time
2022-10-24 29741, 2022
alastairp
but I believe that doesn't go live until the final mentor evaluation is submitted (which is in a week from now)
2022-10-24 29719, 2022
Pratha-Fish
Sounds good
2022-10-24 29749, 2022
Pratha-Fish
Let's just submit the link you shared, and push the blog live ASAP 👍
wouldn't be much hard to add if we want fwiw. might also help in adding a line chart of listens count
2022-10-24 29725, 2022
mayhem
lets not worry about it now. later there might be a visualization with the number of listens...
2022-10-24 29746, 2022
mayhem
tomorrow I'll clean up this code and make a PR for including it into LB.
2022-10-24 29703, 2022
lucifer
oh which reminds me we do have the listen count available. after all we build thr listening activity visualisation from it.
2022-10-24 29726, 2022
lucifer
sounds great.
2022-10-24 29739, 2022
Pratha-Fish
alastairp: Freso Maybe I am just being paranoid, but is there a way to get a blog published "permanently" today itself? I think that might be the best-case scenario, and will save us time in the future as well
2022-10-24 29751, 2022
lucifer
so yeah if you want to use the listen count there we do have it. use the listening activity endpoint.
2022-10-24 29731, 2022
atj_mb
zas: I read all that earlier - it seems relatively straightforward to set up. My concerns are a) is 4 volumes per node a hard requirement and b) how much of an issue will the 1Gbit/s link between nodes be? Especially given the link is shared.
2022-10-24 29728, 2022
darkstardevx has quit
2022-10-24 29731, 2022

Same, I guess we'll find out when we'll try a PoC deployment.
Pratha-Fish: while I understand your paranoia, note that we had exactly this same situation with other students this year, and we used exactly the same process. so we know it works within the context of SoC final submissions

Freso: any luck/change in sending invitations?
2022-10-24 29700, 2022
Freso
I was going to check in a bit when I start prep’ing for the meeting. :)
atj_mb: I'm thinking about starting the move to new gateways. Tomorrow, I'll check DNS entries, and reduce TTLs if needed. Once done, I'll start with stuff like Picard website and low traffic services.
2022-10-24 29700, 2022
alastairp
Freso: sure, thanks. just that Pratha-Fish is missing out on Diwali getting this finished
2022-10-24 29727, 2022
alastairp
Pratha-Fish: not sure how long festivities will last, I have other colleagues away tomorrow too. Will you be back then, or not really until Wednesday? (just so that I know)
2022-10-24 29749, 2022
atj_mb
zas: great! is haproxy no longer used on the gateways then?
2022-10-24 29752, 2022
Freso
Still the same error.
2022-10-24 29742, 2022
atj_mb
Is anyone able to investigate the cause of the error? ;)
2022-10-24 29747, 2022
Pratha-Fish
alastairp: Yea, I'll be completely free until 30th October :)
2022-10-24 29713, 2022
Freso
Pratha-Fish: Like alastairp said, we’ve done this before. This is not the first year Google has specified that the blog post should be public either, and it hasn’t been an issue before. I know it doesn’t make you less anxious, but you’re find to go partake in festivities. We can take it from here (once you’ve submitted your stuff to Google). :)
Looks good at a glance ! If it builds then I think you're in the clear. Errors would prevent CSS or JS from building succesfully
2022-10-24 29734, 2022
monkey
Don't see much "real" changes, mostly formatting
2022-10-24 29706, 2022
alastairp
yes, exactly. it was just a matter of upgrading versions, adding a few fixes to the webpack file (what I asked you about earlier), and re-running
2022-10-24 29741, 2022
alastairp
that LB webpack PR has nicely cleaned up a few other things too
2022-10-24 29710, 2022
zas
atj_mb: haproxy is still used on new gateways, I pondered about removing it, but it is useful to scale if we need to, it will be easier to move openresty instances on sub-nodes, and it eases maintenance

Last week had some progress made on MBS-12552 by refactoring some bits of Perl “core” entity model/data classes.
Debugged SIR performance regressions in development branch; It may delay the next release.

Restored SIR service two times, reported to incident logs.

Hi!
2022-10-24 29725, 2022

I mostly worked on refactoring our Perl code to find and fix more errors and warnings
2022-10-24 29745, 2022
reosarevok
(for some reason for example we weren't using strict/warnings at all on most tests, which would seem like the perfect place to find issues)
2022-10-24 29703, 2022
reosarevok
There's a bunch left to fix that are less trivial but at least now we know about them
2022-10-24 29719, 2022

Also some code review, and some more Perl refactoring, plus a couple React conversion

I mostly poked at some forums flags and some post-summit stream/YouTube stuff. Hopefully I’ll have the videos in "chapters" by the end of this week so they’re easier to navigate to find the specific sections you might be interested in or interested in rewatching.
