I've heard this sentiment a few times and BMAT here in barcelona couldn't make recommendations work.

and this really explains why you don't find more music discovery tools in the wild -- this is really good news for us. We're not out to "monitize discovery". We're out to find better music, so this could be a great advantage for us.

reosarevok: Titles look good to me but the second ticket is probably not worth it as autoeditors know that beginners have not enough experience to be nominated.

Yes, but it's a trivial boolean to remove clutter from the profile :)

It's not for beginners, just for unconfirmed editors

"Invest in getting good/clean metadata" and "from artists, songwriters, distributors, labels" don't really go together very well in my experience :/

mayhem: that I also thought when reading this sentence. The community discussions shows that people are looking for music discovery, but I understand it is not a viable business model. Good then if it doesn't need to be

exactly. we will focuse more on getting community donations to keep LB afloat. and companies will hopefully come to use MB + LB data, so we're not monetizing discovery. We're using it to showcase our data and letting the users benefit from it.

lucifer: the listenbrainz-mbid-mapping seems to not generate a config.py anymore -- I can't invoke manage.py . it seems that this has been broken for a while. do you know about this? am I doing a dumb again?

But more importantly, they show the bitmojis (the profiles) with a headset on whenever someone is listening to music

I think 2 things: LB could have such a feature. Why can’t we approach snapchat to incorporate and use LB data for listens to show in realtime what people are listening to on their app?

we could. but anytime I go to someone to ask for data, they say one of 2 things: 1) How much you gonna pay for that? 2) WTF, are you insane?
bitmap, yvanzo: for MBS-13281, is there anything that is_limited restricts that wouldn't already be restricted for editors without an email? Wondering if I should just remove the email_confirmation_date check from is_limited or we'd need to block something else elsewhere in that case...

that's going through pgbouncer -> haproxy -> postgres and it seems to be going fine so far. I just tweaked some haproxy timeout settings to allow long-running requests. the config could use further review
