<02UltimateRiff> Schmias: I know Spotify and Apple Music are getting (or already have, for the former) direct integrations with ListenBrainz, and perhaps SoundCloud too. I don't use streaming services tho, so mileage may vary

<03_flaky> Schmias: I'd say Spotify right now unless you imported local tracks to Spotify. Last.fm catches them but not LB. SoundCloud has good integration via Web Scrobbler. Apple Music is very dependent on what platforms you're using

I didn't know SoundCloud even offers a pro service

I'm gonna try. thanks

aerozol: i have run fresh releases with 90 days of listens. can you check and see if there any improvements for you?

lucifer: great!! It’s looking better, one album in there from an artist I really like (and I didn’t add the album). I still wouldn’t use it to keep up to date on my music

Do we filter out artists that have only been listened to a few times?
2024-02-19 05029, 2024
aerozol
(we could maybe use a informative (?) mouse-over on some of these pages huh)
2024-02-19 05056, 2024
lucifer
aerozol: don't see any filter.

I guess as we increase the time range it could start getting cluttered. But even with everything in there right now, my Fresh Releases isn’t too packed
2024-02-19 05015, 2024
lucifer
do you want to try 6 months?
2024-02-19 05023, 2024
aerozol
Definitely a few artists I don’t really care about, and were probably in a compilation or featured on a track I listened to once (this was already the case before you increased it to 3 months)

aerozol
Anyway, it’s an improvement, and I think there’s room to extend it!

not really

Excellent. I predict that my ideal would be maybe 5 years history, with artists I have listened to less than 10 or 20 times filtered out

aerozol: we could add a filter or let it upto the user to switch to the confidence sorting.
2024-02-19 05051, 2024
aerozol
I don’t see a downside in filtering out some, at least. If I like an artist enough to want to see their new releases, I’ll listen to their music more than a couple of times
2024-02-19 05038, 2024
aerozol
I guess currently ‘for you’ isn’t really a feed of ‘music that I like’ but a feed of ‘music I’ve listened to very recently’, which isn’t as useful
2024-02-19 05054, 2024
aerozol
Whereas if I listened to an artist thousands of times a few years ago, I’d be excited to see a new album from them
2024-02-19 05001, 2024

Maybe I’m assuming that’s universal though
2024-02-19 05003, 2024

hmm i see.

fwiw we can run the entire history too.

lucifer
threshold it at say 10 listens?
2024-02-19 05003, 2024

I’d be keen! The further back we go probably the bigger the need for a filter

<02UltimateRiff> LB question, if a user listens to a track through Spotify or something and it doesn't get matched because it doesn't exist in MusicBrainz, then later they listen to the same track the same way, and it does get matched (because it got added to MusicBrainz in the meantime), do the original listens get matched too?
