docker-compose will pull a few GB to fetch the various docker images
do you have internet cafes or somewhere you can get a decent connection for a few hours?
Pratha-Fish
atj: yep. my internet is unlimited and free from 12AM to 6AM. I'll just let it rip at night ig :D
atj: also, if you're free can you briefly let me know if there are any parameters I could update before fetching the docker image such that it ONLY fetches a minimal setup with test.mb and an empty musicbrainz database?
atj: Epic! (I should've read the whole docs before asking 🤦♂️)
as far as I can understand from the docs, the test setup also doesn't automatically download search indexes either :)
atj
I defer to bitmap on this so wait for him to confirm, altho I think he and reo said before you could get away without even the sample data
however i would fetch the sample data just so you have some entries in the database
search indexes aren't required, no
Pratha-Fish
atj: yep. some sample data sounds good to me, that way hopefully the whole setup would run as expected without interfereing with my ISO_3166 area tests that throw error due to already utilized area codes on the full db
Noted. Skipping the search index
bitmap
Pratha-Fish: having sample data is always useful for manual testing. for automated tests you'll be using an empty test DB that you can drop/re-create as needed (there's a script in musicbrainz-server for this)
my sample DB with indexes (no search indexes though) is about 4.7 GB
space needed by docker for the container images will inflate the requirements slightly
atj
bitmap: we have a new server with zfs for your to benchmark
Pratha-Fish
bitmap: noted 📝

atj: cool, can I ssh into it already?
atj
bitmap: yes, add an ssh config entry for jimmy
docker is installed
it has not internal LAN connectivity at the moment
bitmap

This week is summer solstice! Happy Summer Solstice to everyone! ☼
🎉HAPPY ANNIVERSARY REOSAREVOK!🎊
Summer is here and it's too hot to do anything but laze around for a few weeks. I'll be back later!
In general I'll still be trying to d oa fair bit of images and such♉

zas

Pratha-Fish
Oops
ApeKattQuest
:D
Pratha-Fish
May I go ahead?
zas
last week we released a new beta of Picard 2.9
Pratha-Fish stops
ApeKattQuest
after zas maybe
zas
so I spent some time on it, few more cleanup patches, we'll release another one soon, since few issues were revealed
apart that, we had an issue with solr, things come back to normal after a full restart of the whole cluster, inspection didn't reveal any clue about what happened exactly though :(
we just received new server, named jimmy, it will replace floyd or pink once we'll check everything is ok
plus usual maintenance, upgrades (discourse was upgraded), fixes, and MB edits. fin. Pratha-Fish ?
Pratha-Fish
Hi all
last week was quite productive!
I spent some time discussing some project details with reosarevok adn bitmap
Working on soom more features and tests for teh musicbrainz-bot, for which I am kinda struggling to setup the musicbrainz-docker repo, but thanks to ya all's help it's coming together smoothly ^_^
Irony strikes hard, because I just disconnected in teh middle of the meeting 💀
ApeKattQuest
lol
mayhem
disconnected again?
bitmap: why dont you go next?
bitmap
sure. hi!
Pratha-Fish
Looks like I just reconnected
bitmap
at the start of last week I hot-fixed an issue related to the sentry.meb.org switchover that was causing css/js to not load on some pages
Pratha-Fish keep going bitmap
it was due to content-security-policy headers restricting which domains can be used, now fixed
also fixed some stale configuration referencing the old gateways in our CI setup
preventing css/js from being rsynced to the new gateways
also fixed a script used by our sitemaps indexing cron job that was causing it to fail to start, due to missing directories and permission issues...
there's another issue with the hourly sitemaps that I'm debugging which appears to be a code or data issue. so those will be down for a bit longer but should be back this week.
otherwise, I spent a good chunk of time on code review
that's all for me. go akshaaatt!
akshaaatt
Hi Everyone!
mayhem
Pratha-Fish: did you have anything else to add?
akshaaatt lets fish finish
Pratha-Fish
mayhem: not much :)
akshaaatt: please go ahead
mayhem nods
akshaaatt
I have been reviewing PRs here and there and enjoying stuff lately. Things are coming together good
We still have a prod release due for LB app. I intend to sort it out this week.
Other than that, I’ve just been learning some cool stuff. Getting a lot into ML. Let’s see how it goes. I come with an applications thinking. So hopefully all this learning can nudge me to make crazy stuff
last week was dealing with signing a new contract and there is good news and bad news.
the good news, we signed epidemic sound from Sweden as a unicorn.
the bad news is that Xerpi (Tivo) cancelled their unicorn contract.
so, no gain, no loss. meh.
lucifer
hey around now.
mayhem
the I had the usual background foundation work and some background work on more marketing/comms. and pushing out the "build your own music tagger" post. which got a sum total of fuck-all uptake.
reosarevok
Can I go after for a sec? :)
(forgot to mail so I will talk)
mayhem
it seems that you can't tell get anyone to cover you on anything unless you are doing AI. meh.
reosarevok: sure.
I also picked up work on artist-radio, which will become lb-radio -- I should have some thing to test in the next day or so.
I'm sure there were other things too, but forgetting those now. too much stuff on. :)
reosarevok: go, then lucifer.
reosarevok
Hi!
I worked a bit with aerozol to get new icons into MB
(they're pretty)
lucifer
mayhem: great thing the lb radio is powered by next gen AI! (common sense)
reosarevok
I worked a bit with Pratha-Fish to guide his GSoC
A bit with bitmap to get some old PRs merged
Pratha-Fish :D
mayhem
lol
lucifer: well designed postgres is indistringuishable from AI, if you ask me. :)
reosarevok
There's only like 130 instead of 140 now? Maybe :D
And now I'm resting and enjoying a couple days out. Back more or less by the end of the week
lucifer: go
lucifer
mayhem: fair. indeed. and we can always add a shiny prompt layer on the top to call it powered by ai without lying.
hi all!
atj
I'm calling it AS going forward - Applied Statistics
lucifer
last week, i worked on integrating soundcloud player into BrainzPlayer. a couple of issues pending to be resolved before I open the PR.
mayhem
awesome!
lucifer
also had a conversating with pixelpenguin on the DSH project, he'll open a PR in a day or two.
some misc discussions and bug fixes. that's it for me.
atj: next?
atj
hi
lucifer
also, pixelpenguin won't be around for the meet today.
atj
last week i started writing ansible roles to install and configure openresty and consul-template
mayhem
still up: riksucks , kellnerd, shivam_, vscode, arsh, jasje
pprkut_ has quit
atj
this is needed for our next project which is to move openresty out of docker and install it natively on rudi/rex, so that zas doesn't have to spend loads of time manually compiling openresty docker images for upgrades
hoping to start testing the roles in anger this week
kellnerd?
kellnerd
Thanks :)
Hey there!
As I already reported last week, I was busy with a university project, for which I've finished a demonstrator on Friday.
Now I'm getting back into my GSoC project, continuing with undusting old code and testing with RabbitMQ.
Hopefully I'll have more to report next week.
P.S. And I couldn't resist brushing up on my CSS knowledge a bit (for the MB importer project).
That's it, go arsh!
arsh
Hi everyone
mayhem
still up: riksucks , shivam_, vscode, jasje
arsh
So I spent a lot of time in improving the interactive graph to make it more userfriendly and incorporate the score factor into it
I think I am almost done and will be wrapping up the graph component of my project
mayhem
well, we have to get it past aerozol first. :)
arsh
Overall I guess I am a little behind on my project but I will catch up this week to ensure everything works out on time
Sure mayhem: I will try to get aerozol's feedback as well
