how much work is it to install the VPN client? I've never done that.
aCiD2
thanks djce !
nikki wonders what's with her in that list
ruaok: vpn client is built into osx and works a treat, I use it to connect to my uni network. I dunno about setting it up on a server though
djce
That file will disappear 48 hours from now. Is that enough?
aCiD2
nikki: did I get it wrong?
djce: plenty
djce
ace.
nikki
I don't know. I just clicked a link and saw me in it
and one of my email addresses
ruaok
djce: then lets go with the VPN solution.
nikki: svn committers
and giving credit.
nikki
can you remove my email address then?
aCiD2
sure can
ruaok
yeah, in general I wonder why we need to have emails in there.
aCiD2
it'sjust git practice
zenkat
in ngs, there are release_groups and releases. However, in the (old/current) MB web client, there seems to be some logic that groups releases with the same tracks together on a single page ( http://musicbrainz.org/release/4800c809-f22f-4a... ).
aCiD2
email address is a pretty good unique identifier I guess
ruaok
aCiD2: ah
zenkat
Is this only an artifact of the UI?
nikki
no
that's the way the data is currently structured
zenkat
will the NGS UI show the data differently?
nikki
well it changes the structure, so yes
aCiD2
schema explaining time!
zenkat
hooray!
;-)
aCiD2
have you seen the schema diagram?
zenkat
yes, and I've been playing with SQL quite a bit
djce
So, the VPN is openvpn, for which packages exist on Debian and download is available for Windows.
aCiD2
zenkat: good stuff
aCiD2 is happy there's been so much recent "fiddlers"
djce
Is that a problem for whoever needs access?
zenkat
yes, it's been working pretty well
djce
(i.e. specifically: I don't know about mac. google?)
zenkat
so in the new NGS UI, will there just be a release group page that lists all releases under it?
aCiD2
djce: My mac connects to our uni vpn flawlessly... is vpn not a standard?
