that was the one I was originally looking at before we changed the date
(since if it'd been next week, the wednesday flight would have been a lot cheaper than the thursday one)
Freso
ruaok: It really does look interesting.
I'll have to keep it in mind if I ever set up hitchhiking down there or otherwise travel to BCN for some other occassion. :)

arg, my stupid university wireless is failing again.
I can use IRC, but can't reliably send emails or browse the web? it's really weird :(
kepstin-laptop stayed in http://www.crashpadchattanooga.com/ once - that was kind of interesting.

What is the quickest way to get from a recording to it's release group? Currently I go recording->track->tracklist->medium->release->release_group but that seems pretty inefficient...
ijabz
bookie i think that is what you have to do
Bookle
hmm, well that's unfortunate. thanks

I guess my real issue is that I can't determine directly from a recording what type it is I have to go to recording group type to find out if it was an interview for example
release group type*
which means I have to do 8 joins :/
warp
the release group type doesn't really tell you that either.
kepstin-laptop
Bookle: remember, a recording can be on multiple releases!
so it could be on both an album and a single, for example
warp
and you can obviously have track/recording which is an interview on a release with many songs (i.e. not interviews)
+a
the release group type is meant to describe the release as a whole
Bookle
warp: yes, that's the problem - there is nothing that accuraterly describes an individual recording's type
ocharles
Bookle: and what is wrong with 8 joins?
kepstin-laptop would not be adverse to having recording types - the question is just what goes in them.
Bookle
ocharles: amount of time it takes to execute
ocharles
Bookle: i don't believe that
prove it.
Bookle
what do you mean?
ocharles
I don't believe that 8 joins are inherently slow
or more, that there is any reason to be alarmed at 8 joins
Bookle
kepstin-laptop: well to start with , identify a recording as an interview :)
kepstin-laptop
Bookle: I actually wanted them for karaoke recordings, but yeah :)
live would also be good
Bookle
ocharles: give me a sec and I'll try to pastebin mething... maybe I'm going wrong elsewhere
kepstin-laptop
hmm. anyways, should I be bringing a sleeping bag or something with me to the summit?
warp
kepstin-laptop: I think a few people will have to bring their sleeping bag, but there hasn't been any coordination as to who is bringing a sleeping bag and who isn't.
it also isn't clear to me how many people need to bring a sleeping bag :)
should get all recordings that are linked to a release group with a type of live, interview, or recording
kepstin-laptop
Bookle: some recordings aren't linked to any release groups at all :)
ocharles
kepstin-laptop: those also lack the information that bookle needs
Bookle
but I've had that running for 10 hours or so and no result
ocharles
then you should run explain on it and see what the plan is
Bookle
kepstin-laptop: yup that's fine
ocharles
but note that is going to take a bit of time because you're going to get potentially millions of results (and you haven't made it distinct on recording.id or anything)
Freso
kepstin-laptop: I think, if you have room for a sleeping bag, bring it.
Bookle
yeah I realized the bit about distinct later, maybe that's the issue
Freso
It's better to have one too many, than one too few.
ocharles
the distinct will only be slower, probably (because distinct usually means sort & filter all results)
but run an explain and see what the plan is
Bookle
ok
Freso
ruaok: Where are you seated Zürich-BCN?
Freso is picking seats now
I want to make sure I'm not too close to you.
Nevermind. Seems like there was only one good available seat.
ruaok
exit row, window.
Freso
<- 21A
ruaok
I forget exactly where
sounds dangerously close to me
Freso
Damn.
Looks like my CPH-ZRH will be rather empty, while ZRH-BCN is rather crowded.
So hopefully people won't notice.

ruaok: ah yikes. that is another good reason not to bring any expensive electronics.
