        lol
      • adhawkins
Couldn't really spare that much time and/or money I'm afraid.
      • ianmcorvidae
        well, there's always next year
      • adhawkins
        Maybe.
      • ianmcorvidae
... which is already starting to be planned, heh, so :)
      • adhawkins
As long as it's in Swindon :D
      • ianmcorvidae
        haha
      • copenhagen, looks like
      • nikki
        yeah, start planning now :P
      • alastairp
hmm, wouldn't say no to copenhagen
      • reosarevok
        Hmm
      • apparently if I buy now, Estonian Air costs only 85€ return with a direct flight from Tallinn
      • alastairp
the unknown compmusicers are ajay and sertan
      • reosarevok
Freso: decide on the dates soon! :p
      • Oh, crap, I'm late for class *again*
      • reosarevok leaves

Project musicbrainz-server_beta build #223: STILL FAILING in 18 min: http://ci.musicbrainz.org/job/musicbrainz-serve...
      • warp
        irc!
      • ocharles
        warp: hey
      • warp: so, need to release today, lots of test failures relating to html5
      • Freso
reoafk: I will! flight tickets might be cheap for me too this early!
      • Oh, wait...
      • ocharles
i think master is failing just because that hasn't been configured at all
      • warp
        fun :)
      • Freso
reoafk: Just buy tickets for 1st of September to 30th of September and take the month off. :p
      • warp attempts to connect to ci.musicbrainz.org
      • ocharles: Is my DHHU commit already on master? It isn't listed in the paste Jenkins listed before.
      • warp
ocharles: ah, it cannot connect to the validator. you can uncomment the localhost validator, I have a local copy running on hobbes.
      • ocharles
      • warp: can I leave that to you?
      • warp
        ocharles: sure
      • ocharles: this is the release with the DBDefs defaults stuff changes though, right?
      • ocharles
        oh, yes
      • warp
ocharles: DBDefs.pm seems very big, so it hasn't been updated with that in mind?
      • ocharles
no, I haven't done anything on hobbes at all
      • warp
right, so that should be done first. can ianmcorvidae do that? :)
      • ocharles
i'm just trying to catch up on email stuff right now
      • i can have a look at that shortly
      • he might be able to
      • warp
        it's his patch >:)
      • though I guess it's just emptying the file except for those settings which deviate from defaults.
      • ocharles
        yep, pretty much
      • warp
my e-mail provider has a power outage, which is a tad annoying as I've just re-installed windows 8 on my laptop and am thus re-installing a bunch of stuff.
      • (so currently no access to activation codes or password resets, etc...)
      • CloudCatCat
ocharles: also anorwegian list from last.fm :D
      • Freso
warp: You never use e-mail anyway, so I guess I fail to see what problem you're having... ;)
      • Freso didn't read the 2nd message
      • Where's Rob to tell me to read more, ask less?
      • CloudCatCat
hmm, what is a link to that images fro mthe summit
      • ianmcorvidae
warp, ocharles: the improvements to DBDefs aren't required except for two
      • warp, ocharles: AWS_ASSOCIATE_ID (I think?) and CAA_UPLOAD_PREFIXER
      • in both cases you can just comment out the one you've configured, there's no reason you'd change those
      • ocharles
        ianmcorvidae: for ci?
      • ianmcorvidae
for in general, you'll get 500s on release pages with the AWS one
      • and fail to ever upload coverart with the caa one
      • both of those are the functions in DBDefs that actually care about their arguments, that's the issue
      • make sure to add 'use DBDefs::Default' to the top as well of course
      • ocharles
        yea, I have all that
      • but why can't I just use the defaults for those functions?
      • ianmcorvidae
        you can
      • you should, in fact
      • ocharles
        ok, cool
      • ianmcorvidae
that's what this does, commenting them out
      • ocharles
literally all ci/beta has is the database settings
      • we'll see what happens
      • ianmcorvidae
probably needs a schema sequence too, those should be the only needed configurations
      • though we may not use the schema sequence outside of replication
      • so maybe that doesn't matter
      • ocharles
oh, we didn't put a default on that, did we?
      • ianmcorvidae
nope, no default for schema sequence
      • ocharles
        k
      • ianmcorvidae
because we want people to have to interfere manually
      • ocharles
        ea
      • yea
      • warp
        Freso :)
      • Freso
ocharles: I'm not sure if you should perhaps use "Indian art music" instead of "Indian classical music". Most people I know and things I've read about the field seem to use "art music" over "classical music" (though the meaning is generally the same, I guess).
      • Freso picking nits
      • ianmcorvidae
        pretty esoteric, yeah
      • distinction that only matters to people who really care about that particular type of music, which is... minimal in the MB community, to say the least :P
      • nikki
otherwise people would have demanded ragas and talas already :P
      • ocharles
Freso: wikipedia says Indian classical music, so I just copied that
      • Freso
        ocharles: Alright.
      • alastairp
        either is fine
      • Freso
        alastairp: :)
      • CloudCatCat
actualy calling all "music written by deadguys before 1800" "classic music " is a bit like calling all "music written by deadguys after 1800" "pop music". and being a music cycolpediariumeria whatever we shouldprobably di it right. however "art music " is WAY pretencious
      • CloudCatCat susspect using the actual names would be better
      • eg "classical" "gregrian" etc
      • wht do we know, perhaps separation thme woud be better for styleguides and management of thme too
      • Freso
Indian classical/art music is written from now until way before 1800.
      • CloudCatCat
that was kind of my point :)
      • it's hard to define these withouth doing "classic music" as a genre
      • because people *still* do write sympohoneis, ragas or whatever
      • CloudCatCat thinks its about time the database got less european-centric wrt "classical" music and worknames
      • it's beautiful
      • ianmcorvidae
not like it's that good for western classical/art music either, of course, but agreed :P
      • CloudCatCat
        yea
      • nikki
ianmcorvidae: oh, did you see jesus complaining about not being able to write/edit forum posts?
      • MBJenkins
Project musicbrainz-server_beta build #224: STILL FAILING in 33 min: http://ci.musicbrainz.org/job/musicbrainz-serve...
      • ianmcorvidae
I didn't, the forums are quite a little clusterfuck lately
      • so I'm not exactly surprised or anything
      • ocharles
warp: ok, I used an 'empty' DBDefs, and now the majority of tests fail because they can't connect to HTML_VALIDATOR
      • if that's left blank, shouldn't those tests be skipped?
      • warp
ocharles: the default should be validator.nu
      • reoafk joined the channel
      • ocharles: for hobbes we can use localhost (which should be in the default DBDefs, but commented out)
      • ocharles
        ok, it's using validator.nu
      • warp
ocharles: if you force it blank, it should skip tests, yes.
      • ocharles
at the moment, but still failing
      • localhost with which port for ci?
      • warp
        # sub HTML_VALIDATOR { 'http://localhost:8888?out=json' }
      • ocharles
yes, I can see that, I don't know if that's what I should be using though
      • warp
        yes
      • ocharles builds again
      • (though if validator.nu always fails when building the whole thing, it is not a very good default)
      • I guess they're rate limiting
      • ocharles
        # Failed test 'valid HTML5, Could not connect to http://localhost:8888?out=json';

        Project musicbrainz-server_beta build #225: ABORTED in 3 min 5 sec: http://ci.musicbrainz.org/job/musicbrainz-serve...
      • warp
        :(
      • odd
      • this is going to be another selenium isn't it? :(
      • ocharles
a curl to http://localhost:8888 does seem to return some stuff though
      • warp
        I'm restarting it.
      • ocharles
        ok
      • warp
        ok, it's back.
      • ocharles: still failing :(
      • ocharles
        in what way?
      • warp
oh wait, maybe I'm looking an the wrong stuff.
      • ocharles: I thought you and/or ian updated master
      • MBJenkins
        Project musicbrainz-server_master build #345: ABORTED in 8 min 12 sec: http://ci.musicbrainz.org/job/musicbrainz-serve...
      • ocharles
        updated in what way?
      • I'm working on beta atm
      • warp
        the DBDefs
      • ocharles
yes, for beta, i'll do master once beta works
      • ianmcorvidae is working on ingestr, heh
      • warp
ocharles: ok, I'll stare at the beta build console output for a bit then.
      • :)
      • ocharles is doing the same :)
      • ok, it seems to be working and finding all sorts of invalid HTML
      • hawke_1 joined the channel
      • ocharles nods
      • hawke joined the channel
      • ianmcorvidae
heh, whoops, laptop ran out of battery
      • apparently my cord had come unplugged
      • probably the adapter sucking, mostly
      • warp
I wonder where all those abouts come from.
      • ocharles
        yea, I was wondering that
