        doesn't matter much, though.
      • Freso
JonnyJD: Did you use beta.mb.o or regular mb.o?
      • Maybe it's a new thing that hasn't gone into prod. yet? (Although I seem to recall this having been around for a while...)
      • Maybe it's a per-user setting?
      • Oh, all-knowing nikki - help clear up this matter of ours?
      • nikki
if you imported the disc, the stub will go away
      • Freso
nikki: Yes... we got so far.
      • nikki: But apparently JonnyJD wasn't seeing a stub on the CD TOC lookup page whereas I was.
      • nikki
but can you reproduce it? :P
      • I don't think anything's changed there
      • Freso
nikki: I don't have any CD TOCs handy which has a stub and isn't entered...
      • JonnyJD
freso: I used regular mb.o and can't find a user setting for this
      • freso: I tried it with and withoug being logged in. The stub wasn't shown to me.
      • *without
      • Freso
        JonnyJD: Interesting.
      • ...
      • Perhaps it's a user script?
      • None of the userscripts installed would do this from what I can tell though.
      • JonnyJD
I have power vote, elephant editor and collection highlighter active on that page
      • Freso
        I don't think I have any of those. :p
      • JonnyJD
I can try and add a stub at beta to re-test this with greasemonkey disabled
      • Freso
JonnyJD: Test would probably be better, but eh.
      • JonnyJD: Keep in mind that beta runs off the actual live db. I guess there's no real harm done when we're just dealing with stubs though. :)
      • nikki
I see the stub on that page
      • JonnyJD
freso: ah, okay. Wasn't using beta yet.
      • Freso
I still get "CD Stub found
      • A CD Stub was found that matches the disc ID you provided. If the below tracklist appears correct, you may use it as a starting point as a new MusicBrainz release
      • test artist 916 - cd stub test 5645"
      • Freso too
      • :)
      • JonnyJD
        for real?
      • Lookup CD
      • CD Not Found
      • MusicBrainz does not have any CDs with the TOC:
      • for the attach link
      • nikki
        are you logged in?
      • JonnyJD
the stub link works, of course
      • nikki
I also see it on mb.org, so it's not because of beta
      • uk
Freso: Regarding your question from yesterday, I don't consciously do anything to prevent JIRA comments from appearing on mb-bugs.
      • Freso
uk: I did get one of your comments a bit later.
      • uk: It's probably some random connection thing then. :|
      • JonnyJD
ah, I can find it when I'm logged in. Not sure why I couldn't before. I remember logging in before
      • nikki
I don't see it when logged in
      • err
      • I don't see it when not logged in
      • JonnyJD
        ah, okay.
      • nikki
why is 'not' the most common word I forget? :/
      • it could be something unimportant like "the", but nooo
      • entil
hmm, if I get a multi-disc release, how do I know which medium I have in my drive?
      • JonnyJD
okay, then my session might just have timed out while testing "logged in".
      • entil
I get 'medium-list' a-ok but I can't see how to match the current disc to anything
      • nikki
        ws/1 or ws/2?
      • entil
        ws/2 probably, the ngs stuff
      • nikki
ok, just checking :) 'cause ws/1 and multi-disc releases really don't go together
      • JonnyJD: would be nice if you could report it :)
      • entil
haven't developed my ripper in ages, though I did port it to use ngs
      • now I figured if I get multi-disc going I could finish my project of flacifying my discs
      • should there be an ID I could use to match or something?
      • JonnyJD
freso: should I remove the stub url from isrcsubmit?
      • nikki
if you want to submit isrcs, adding a cd stub isn't much good
      • JonnyJD
nikki: report what? That it tells me there is nothing when not logged in? That is "as intended" I guess.
      • nikki
JonnyJD: well, it talks about adding a new cd stub, when actually we already have one
      • I would expect it to say something along the lines of "we have this cd stub, or you can log in and import it into mb proper"
      • JonnyJD
        nikki: true that

      • nikki, freso: http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/MBS-5590 That's the mb server issue, I created for this
      • I wasn't sure about the component to use

        Using none is good enough.
      • :)
      • JonnyJD: I think you can remove the stub thing in isrcsubmit.
      • It should be fixed in MBS.
      • noobie joined the channel
      • JonnyJD
yes, at least remove the url / firefox call
      • Freso
        Yeah. :)
      • Man, this is music I'd *never* (voluntarily) listen to! Why do I borrow the CD from the library just for fixing it in the db? D:
      • entil
https://github.com/mjtorn/ripwhine/ got ngs going for my ripper, way cool

        entil: \o/
      • entil
soon I'll have ripped all my discs \,,/
      • ok, maybe I should implement asking for which release I have, but I store only the ids alongside my flacs and no other metadata so it doesn't matter now
      • I could store more but I'd have to go through all my discs and not wanting to
      • Freso
You could just store more going forwards.
      • I assume you use the ids for identifying them for tagging at some later point?
      • entil
something, seemed like a good enough thing to do just in case
      • but I ripped all my single-disc releases, there's close to a thousand of them
      • or whatever, maybe they were only 600 and with multi-discs the estimate closer to 1k, can't remember
      • Freso
        :)
      • entil
it's too huge an undertaking to start going through everything again
      • Freso
I'm not suggesting you do that.
      • entil
but yeah, I could maybe store the disc/release ids for all the dual-discs and write something that prompts for releases based on ids
      • Freso
I'm just noting that storing more data in the FLACs going forward doesn't necessarily mean you have to re-rip your previously ripped discs.
      • entil
but instead of hacking more on this now I'll just rip everything and consider the releases later :P
      • yeah, the ngs api is cool enough to work with so doing just about anything later should be easy :)

alastairp btw, I just had the urge to note that it's awesome that CompMusic is paying you for doing MB development! I know it's directly in their own interest, but it's still awesome. :D
