JonnyJD_: I don't think that users should see the messages. it's something that we should run as developers

is there a delay until the cover art is visible (after uploading manually to MB) for Picard (because I can see it in MB) and can be fetched along with the rest of metadata?
chrisirc: not really sure, since we usually only store information about complete tracks and our fingerprinting also works on complete tracks (yielding different fingerprints for the snippets)
we do store relationships for "free download", but currently also only for full tracks and no snippets
chrisirc
k, thanks for the reply

*sigh* it is really frustrating that githubs news feed does *intentionally* *not* include comments on your own pull requests unless you start watching the whole target repository

Mineo
yeah, I'm not sure who thought that would be a good idea, but apparently someone did

JonnyJD_
probably somebody thought this isn't needed, since you have email notifications for these anyways
it does unclutter the news feed from stuff "you already know"
Mineo
in that case it doesn't make sense that the news feed does contain entries for which email notifications are sent
JonnyJD_
Mineo: although I do have some comments in the news feeds. What do you mean by "your own pull requests", PRs you opened?
Mineo
yes
JonnyJD_
or PRs you opened in your own projects?
Mineo
no, PRs you opened to a repository you're not watching
JonnyJD_
ah, that would only be Picard, for me
Mineo
that's exactly why it's stupid, there's no reason to special-case this
JonnyJD_
well, I don't think this is special cased. It's probably that the "watch repo" bucket is added to the feed, but not the "watch PR" bucket. Sometimes a comment is in both, and sometimes not.
Mineo
and how does it make sense to add one but not the other to the feed? I mean, this basically means that you can't use the news feed because you might miss a notification that you only receive via email/web notification
(both of which you can disable if you're not aware that means missing some comments)
JonnyJD_
I use the news feed on github similar to the one in Facebook: Only when I have some spare time and want to browse a bit. Everything that is important gives a notification per mail
the news feed is just a toy.. basically.
Mineo
unless you use the rss feed :)
JonnyJD_
hm, I actually have the RSS feed somewhere. But I don't really use it as much as my notification mails

Maybe? Have you read some guides?
sam____
i have visited musicbrainz though
reosarevok
(also do you have some more specific doubts :) )
sam____
which guides ?
reosarevok
Well, depending on what you want to do I guess :)
Add data? Write code?

reosarevok hadn't noticed this is -devel, guessing code then
And... hmm. Would have sweared that someone had a short intro for devs, but maybe I imagined that one :/

sam____: probably a first good thing to do would be to get a replicated server running locally, so you have the codebase running so you can play with it.
