ruaok, kuno: I'm getting my transport sorted tonight :)
      • nikki
        hi ocharles
      • ocharles
        ola!
      • warp
        ocharles: hooray!
      • ocharles
        warp: where are you staying?
      • nikki
ocharles: you have several open pull requests still, if you could have a look at them and see if you can get some progress made on them that'd be good
      • warp
ocharles: novatel probably, someone in #faif offered the sofa in their hotel room.
      • ocharles
        :)
      • nikki: I can't guarantee anything soon, but i'll try
      • warp
ocharles: I'll be helping out with video recording in the legal & policy dev room.
      • ocharles
        nice
      • nikki
also if either of you happen to know how to tell the caa stuff to move images from one bucket to another (which we need to do for CAA-65) or how to insert events (a bunch didn't happen last monday 'cause it failed to the find the releases in our db thanks to all the db problems and cron has been complaining at me hourly ever since), that'd be useful
      • mb-chat-logger
      • ocharles
nikki: I've made some todo items, but I'm way too exhausted to do anything tonight
      • but I'll try and get some emails out this week on my lunch break or something
      • nikki
        thanks :)
      • ruaok
        bang!
      • ruaok is looking forward to fosdem.
      • [of] a more less BS open source conference. :)
      • so, what's new?
      • reodroid joined the channel
      • earlier today I spoke with a lawyer about getting a german non-profit off the ground.
      • and I hit a pretty serious snag.
      • whenever any european company pays anyone, they fork over 19% in taxes.
      • which, metabrainz in the US doesn't do.
      • so, moving to the EU has a 19% tax right out of the gate.
      • ouch.
      • nikki
is that separate from the problem you spoke about before?
      • ianmcorvidae
        oof. yeah, that's a lot
      • ruaok
        nikki: yes.
      • ianmcorvidae
yeah, I think the previous bit had been income taxes for the company itself
      • nikki
        :/
      • chirlu`
But this is deductible from money that you spend.
      • ruaok
yes, the income taxes seem managable.
      • I think we're ok.
      • worst that I saw on that front is that our paid ws would be taxed. no that big a deal.
      • chirlu`: spend on what?
      • besides pay, we have hosting costs.
      • and hosting costs are about half of one employee's cost. (at least right now)
      • chirlu`
e.g. someone pays you EUR 1190, you have to pay EUR 190 in tax; but then you buy hardware for EUR 1190 and can deduct the EUR 190 tax.
      • ("Allphasennettoumsatzsteuer", looking for an English Wikipedia article …)
      • nikki
        heh german words
      • ruaok
ah, but we hardly ever buy hardware and in the future likely none at all. it will be all services we pay for.
      • Freso
chirlu`: Like ruaok just said, MeB doesn't really use that kind of monehz.
      • chirlu`
        For services it's the same.
      • ruaok
chirlu`: let's discuss this a bit after the meeting. but I've love to get your thoughts.
      • ah, that's good.
      • are contractor's considered services?
      • dienstleistende??
      • wie der name schon sagt. :)
      • ok, enough for now.
      • any discussion on anything?
      • Freso
Uh. Is rika revisited still relevant? nikki?
      • ruaok
        wait. no new agenda items?
      • nikki
I did some productive work on rika earlier, so right now it's behaving
      • ruaok
        what the hell?
      • nikki
and I didn't complain once, I even forgot that it's normally unusable
      • ruaok
are we slipping or did we solve all of our problems?
      • nikki
nah, we have a bug tracker full
      • ianmcorvidae
what I've heard from bitmap is that it's been better for him, which I think also has to do with the fact our overall bandwidth cap has gone up since I asked DWNI how it works and it was better than I was expecting
      • Freso
Freso has changed the topic to: An hour of DR's then?
      • ianmcorvidae
so I think it's better, at least for now
      • Freso
        Oops.
      • ruaok
        ok, interesting.

7topic Southern Hemisphere January week | Agenda: (nuffin')
      • ...
      • Freso fails
      • Freso has changed the topic to: Southern Hemisphere January week | Agenda: (nuffin')
      • ruaok
one of the topics for chicago has got to be our new web service.
      • because our hits are flat and our traffic keeps rising.
      • as people adopt /ws/2
      • :(
      • so, nothing needs discussing? everything is clear?
      • ruaok doubts it.
      • then lets go for some DR tickets. got some nikki?
      • ianmcorvidae
well, clear enough for until next week, probably :P I have plenty of geordi to do, for my part
      • ruaok nods
      • ruaok
        bitmap: how are you doing?
      • Freso
I'm up for discussing handball rules, if anyone's got questions about them.
      • But I doubt that's very on-topic. :p
      • nikki opens the filter...
      • nikki
      • Freso
... also, I seem to be lagging a bit, judging by the web chatlog...

      • ruaok
        famous last words.
      • Freso
That was a manual reconnect though. Hopefully it's better now. :)
      • nikki
        oh, before that
      • ianmcorvidae has already commented re 4650, but I'm not quite sure what to do about it
      • reo did a proposal to remove an attribute from a relationship type, which passed. but now we need to do 60-something thousand edits to remove it
      • ruaok
well, we have agreement on something should be used, no?
      • what if we just make an ordered list of what should be shown?
      • from frontiest to least frontiest first. :)
      • ianmcorvidae
well, let's finish nikki's topic first *hits pause button briefly*
      • nikki
        ok
      • ruaok
do we post a report about what needs to be done?
      • do we write a script?
      • nikki
a report is useless, nobody in their right mind is going to fix close to 70k things
      • we could write a script, but I already have the ability to do it with a bot, if I'm allowed to enter more edits than bots are supposed to
      • ruaok
        not even reo?
      • nikki
        not even reo
      • ruaok
I'm happy to give you leeway to do it with a bot.
      • ianmcorvidae
I'm fine with a bot, anyway, if you think it's fine as subscriptions go
      • if we want to somehow exclude it from subscriptions it gets hairier, but with a bot it can also be done all in the course of one day or whatever so it might be fine
      • (as long as we say yeah, do whatever, which I think everyone's fine with XD)
      • warp supports whatever.
      • ruaok
        +1 to whatever. :)
      • I'd say just do it
      • nikki
        ok then
      • ianmcorvidae
        cool.
      • ruaok
any objections to letting nikki just taking care of it?
      • ok.
      • back to 4650?
      • nikki
chirlu`: I don't suppose you also want permission for the discogs thing?
      • ianmcorvidae
        re: 4650
      • yeah
      • nikki
personally as far as frontiest goes, I've always supported showing *something* even if we don't have something marked as front
      • ianmcorvidae
I think the main issue is just "are we okay with adding a checkbox to set the front(iest) release" + "does the index.json format sufficiently support that possibility"
      • chirlu`
Dunno. I’m fine with it taking 8 months, but if others want it faster, I’d need a permission.
      • ianmcorvidae
and/or, do we want it to be an automatic fallback instead
      • Freso
        What's the Discogs thing?
      • chirlu`
Freso: Changing the artist/label URLs to their new format.
      • ruaok
chirlu`: go for it. I'm happy to speed it up
      • Freso
        Ah.
      • I'd +1 to letting that run rampant too.
      • ruaok
        dunno about rampant, but yes.
      • ianmcorvidae says +1 to fixing URLs faster because I'll probably want them to be at least *more* consistent for geordi once I get back to discogs again :P
      • +!
      • nikki
and that doesn't affect subscriptions either, so +1 from me as well
      • ruaok
        4650
      • nikki
        and yes, back to that
      • ianmcorvidae
nikki: I'm curious what you think on the topic of automatic fallback vs. editable marker for 'this should be shown as the front' vs. a mix
      • Hadora joined the channel
      • ruaok
I'm ok with a sane order of things to try to show.
      • not sure we need the checkbox.
      • ianmcorvidae
where what ruaok is saying is what I'm referring to as automatic fallback, to be clear :)
      • warp
ok with showing medium if no front is available.
      • bitmap
        sorry I'm late
      • nikki
hmm. I'm not sure we need another option when the ordering is easily edited as it is
      • ruaok
        hi bitmap
      • bitmap
ruaok: doing well, and, the check arrived in the mail today, just to confirm
      • ruaok
        great.
      • when was it promised by?
      • the 9th?
      • bitmap
I think the 8th you said
      • ruaok
        ffs.
      • ianmcorvidae
it was slightly late for me this time, I got it on the 9th with promised 8th
      • bitmap
I wonder if it was weather-related?
