alastairp: there is still no announcement for musicbrainzngs 0.5 (Arch Linux is the only distribution with an update so far and I marked it for update myself :-P)
      • 2014-02-10 04143, 2014

      • alastairp
oh. whoops. I started writing notes on Friday but didn't do it over the weekend

even Debian doesn't see the new version yet due to a watchfile, which is strange

Maybe a week or so. I can't remember how often these are checked.
      • 2014-02-10 04104, 2014

      • alastairp
right, in which case it's not been that long yet
      • 2014-02-10 04117, 2014

      • JonnyJD
ah okay, so either ubuntu checks it more often or just had a check closer to the release
      • 2014-02-10 04147, 2014

      • JonnyJD
(ubuntu already found the new release, but probably won't package it unless debian has ;-))
      • 2014-02-10 04114, 2014

      • JonnyJD
well, in the official repositories that is. The PPAs are up to date, of course.

by the way, the musicbrainzngs 0.5 update gives a bit of pressure on a new isrcsubmit update (probably RC first), but I didn't have time yet :-/

Brand new around here. If someone wouldn't mind answering a quick question: I'm looking to incorporate some musicbrainz data into my Android music player app. I've got ~60k active users, will I need an API key, or to provide MusicBrainz any info? Are MusicBrainz able to identify if a large number of requests are coming from my app, and do I need to worry about it?

yohammed: one of the requirements for using the MusicBrainz API is that your application has an HTTP User-Agent that identifies your application uniquely

Just out of curiousity (and I will be providing a user-agent, I'm looking into the MusicBrainz Android github project to see how it's done), how does MusicBrainz know when my particular app is making requests if I don't provide an user-agent?
