anyone know of a hack to show ads only to advertisers, so they can stop contacting us trying to get ads on mb.org ?

You could make a static version of the homepage

Covered on banners that say "Leave us the fuck alone"

And link it to them, like "But we already have ads, don't you see?"

isn't there a way to have the disc grow dynamically and "compress" it before you upload it?

the disks can grow, but linux filesystems are not that magical.

unless there is one that does that, I dont know it

i can have a vm with a 100gb virtual disc

if the vm uses just 10gb the virtual disc is just 10gb large

it grows dynamically

if you remove a lot of shit and you can use a command in virtualbox to shrink the virtual disc to the smaller size again

how does the filesystem cope with the container changing?

the vm only knows about that 100gb disc

I think it's the other way around, virtualbox tells the vm that it's full size

but it only allocates physical space as the guest uses it

people download a 10gb file, which has a 50gb vm in it

and as more stuff happens, it grows to 50gb

seems to.

docker is very different from a VM though, I don't know how useful a docker image is to our target audience

(docker runs stuff in linux containers, so that means to run a docker image you need to do so on a linux system with the same architecture)
