If you clear the AC field but leave the artist field intact, the AC field should repopulate using the value in the artist field.

in the "artist as credited..." field I mean

Ie., effectively resetting the AC.

If you want to remove the artist entirely, you have to replace it with another artist.

Actually, no. There are more people in #mb than here, and some dev types who don't care about editing stuff here that are not in #mb.

am I missing something? if you change "artist as credited" to be the same as "artist" then you explicitly make it not the same as the release artist

because the artist is "M. D. ..." but the release artist is already "M.D ..." without a space

Mineo: why do you want the space removed? style thing? that's a larger can of worms that we can't open yet - we have a large number of releases and artists both with and without spaces. It's next on our list to unify them

(including artists twice, once with and once without space :( )

I've left little love notes for alastairp in my code, knowing he'd be looking for those bits

uhm.. I have a strange problem. in the release editor. usually if I selected something. like put in the url or set a label or artist. if I place the cursor in the text field, an useful box apears on the side with a text and the link itself. I often use this ability to double check links. and also to check other things. now whenever I try this (on beta) no matter what I do, it doesn't show. is it my problem?

Well, the idea is to eventually get rid of all of those boxes so that we don't use less than half the screen for the actual fields

they are too flimsy and don't stay and the screen for long enough.. i just tried it. that's.. bad

it's possible to extend some more the textfields and *still* have the very.very very useful boxes like before

How to do that though can be improved, so if you have suggestions for that, I'd say talk it with bitmap when he's around
