we've been getting thousands of requests per 10-second chunk from a particular crappy UA, I've now blocked that UA the harshest/earliest place I can

might be an idea to put a banner up on mb to use maybe beta.musicbrainz.org instead while we try to figure sort out the issues behind the 502's ?

I assume if I poke around long enough, I'll find a 'controller' or 'handler' somewhere. Is it that simple?

as I said, re 503's and 502's and such. might be a good idea for putting a banner up saying essentially "yea there are huge 50x issues, we're working on it, sorry about the trouble :("
